Since I did not work for almost two years, I went bankrupt: Divyaalakshmi
A page from the personal diary of Divyaalakshmi
Hi friends, this is Divyaalakshmi, who has worked in serials like FIR, Jyoti and also done a Kunal Kohli film Break Ke Baad.
Today, I am here to tell you something about myself.
Born on the auspicious day of 26 January in Dehradun, I completed my Master in Economics and Business Administration from there. Though I was good at studies, I always wanted to be an actress. And to accomplish my dreams at a later stage, I participated in extracurricular activities like dance and drama during my school and college days.
As a matter of fact, this 'acting ka kida' grew bigger soon after I watched Urmila Matondkar's Rangeela. That was the time when I made up my mind to opt for this profession. But since my parents wanted me to be more focused in life, I had to take up a job in Mumbai, the city of dreams. It was not just my parents who wanted me to lead an independent life even I had always wanted the same. You won't believe me when I say that I started working as a primary school teacher when I was in the twelfth standard. Not wanting to dishearten my parents, I started working as an HR associate in a firm in Andheri (west), Mumbai.
During this time, I also kept mailing my pictures to production houses and by the grace of the Almighty, started getting offers too. Besides playing cameos in shows like Yes Boss, Main Kab Saas Banungi, Simply Sapne among others, my first big break came with SAB TV's FIR. During these days, I also took up Jyoti for NDTV Imagine. Later, I worked for Kunal Kohli's film.
Then there came this phase when I felt the need to get away from all this rut. This is when I did a course in 'Art of Living' in Bangalore. I also became a Balchetna teacher there and started teaching kids in municipality schools. Since I did not work for almost two years, my account balance went nil. This is when I was offeredHum Ne Li Hai ….Shapath on Life OK and I felt that it was right time to get back.
Personally, I am very selective about my work and that is why I do not take up too much work at the same time. But, then Contiloe's Maharana Pratap came my way and I loved the role of Sajjabai Solanki. Hence, you'd soon be seeing me in a new avatar on Sony Entertainment Television.
I think I have said a lot about myself. With this, I seek your permission to wind up.
Life is beautiful, so cherish all you hav.
Goodbye!!!
