I am sure most of you on this Indian debate forum have seen at-least one bollywood movie, and have either sworn never to watch it again, or have found yourself falling into the trap of becoming addicted to the overly cheesy romantic films and worshipping SRK as the love Guru, the Guru who always does the same scenes with different actresses half his age. Either that, or you are abit like myself, who only likes quality movies and quality actors are in scarce these days, and Aamir Khan Produces less than one per year. 😭

There are plenty of youtube videos, sl*gging off bollywood and unfortunately it is all true, with actresses Katrina Kaif being recognised as one of the best quality actresses ( 😕)and actors like SRK and Salman Khan who have still not retired and with their grey hair and pot bellies are one of the 'Hottest' actors of bollywood, again > 😕/. Speechless expression

So what is your take on Bollywood Films? why do you watch it? 😆 Here are some of my favourite youtube vidoes that exaggerates what will happen if bollywood was to turn into reality? 😆

Yes, many like bodyguard, ra. one ,ek tha tiger but I have also seen movies that I can watch a 1000 times without getting bored and I can list a 100 here.

Oh yes! I did fall in the love guru's trap! SRK and his 'overly cheesy romantic films' touch your hearts and entertain you.
As for bollywood as a whole, its the synonym of entertainment . Bollywood songs are the most 'Dance-able songs' . They also have the best lyrics ever like all the songs from Veer Zaara, Maa etc.
SRK is charming, even if he does the same scenes over and over again, I fall for it everytime
He is magic!

Even illiterate understand bollywood language? LOL do you mean, illiterate in the language or education? Bollywood is no science fiction, it is Maslaa at the very best and the rule is to leave your brains behind when watching one, so even the audience with well below average IQ will be perfectly capable of understanding the film and maybe even debate on it, hot debatable topics can be why did the girl wear a skirt whilst riding a bike, or where did the pink tree appear from in the background.

On the other hand, if illiterate in sense of language barrier, then i am sure the person can walk out of the 12hour film ( Sorry is it 3hour long?) perfectly being able to pronounce 'Pyar' 'Ishq' or Mohabbat, or anything along that line, with an accent better than Katrina :D

I hardly watch bollywood films these days unless I am really bored and I feel like torturing myself with fluff. Yep, there are days when I willingly watch fluff like Anjaana Anjaani etc. I remember my pre-teen days when KKHH had been a crazy. I would go loony to watch it - sometimes i do it even now :D

But movies like Dabaang, Rowdy Rathore etc are plain crazy. The makers are cashing in on the fear people harbour for any kind of change. Though quirky & brilliant films do make an appearance once in a while like Shaitaan.. I think the movie was phenomenal but on asking around hardly anyone watched it & they werent keen on it too. Whereas my friends adored Dabaang.

I think its basically on the person's mood. When I asked people why they liked Dabaang their answer almost always revolve around.. There is too much stress in life and I dont wanna bring it into the cinema. To each his own I guess. Maybe one day Bollywood will be at par with Hollywood (some of its movies)

The film industry caters to mass entertainment for most part, anywhere in the world, why just Bollywood.
Pareto's 20% have to be satisfied with only a niche segment, but at the end, they are the ones laughing all the way to the bank since its only members of this coterie who produce the movies after all. Get the paradox?😉
Larger than life entertainment is the most sought after element in a fictional drama for the common overworked man. His seetis ring out loudest at dreamy escapist sequences.
Realistic, meaningful cinema needs thought provocation which is best left to those minority who are not challenged by the crunch of basic necessities of life.
Realism and seriousness is a part and parcel of everyday lives of the multitudes. They don't take it well to be made aware of their own situations on screen as well.

I personally watch and appreciate well made movies which have all the ingredients in a balanced combination and depending on mood and occassion, even no-brainer masala entertainers get a thumbs up.
Bollywood has, over these 100 years of its existence, carved out its unique place in world cinema. Our song and dance exuberance made them sit up and take notice, so much so that their Moulin Rouge embraced our Chhamma-2 with aplomb.

I love all kinds of Bollywood movies! .. the intellectual as well as the cheesy ones.
I don't think much... watch them for entertainment .. for me watching a movie is a way of having fun and relaxing. nothing more , nothing less.

Bollywood is always identified with song and dance stuff, loud melodramatic characters, action , thrill etc.. the large part of the audience, especially the working class enjoy them.. Films should be made for everybody , and not only for the educated intellectuals..

Ultimately it depends on personal choice. One can watch what suits ones tastes.
