Chapter 42

He left the house, and took his car and drove away as quickly as he could. He drove as if demons were after him. He just needed to be away from Shaina. He didn't realize that he was driving way off from the speed limits, and he was so lost in his thoughts, and on top tears were in his eyes. He was a bit too late to see that a truck was coming right at him, in the final second he tried to avoid it, but ended up with his car skidding on the road and went straight in a trench. Rathore hit his head onto the steering wheel and lost consciousness.

A few minutes earlier, Shaina had been staring with love at the ring Rathore had given her previously. She was happy that soon Rathore would propose to her, yep it was all her dreams and crazy heart speaking out, but from the way Rathore was behaving with her, she knew that Rathore was in love with her, he just needed to accept it now. While staring at her ring, she had a sudden feeling of being observed. That's when she had raised her eyes, and saw Rathore looking at her through a mirror. She saw a sudden pain on his face, and turned to try and talk with him, but he was already running away from her, and rushed out of the house. She was just in time to see him taking out the car and driving like a maniac. She shouted and ran after the car asking him to stop, but he wasn't even looking at her.

So she ran and looked for something to follow him, fortunately there was one last car, she rushed into it finding the keys hanging in a garage and went as quickly as possible after him. She almost broke all speed limits to try and catch up to him, and even horned at him, but he probably wasn't listening to him. She followed him, and was terrified when she saw Rathore's car doing some skids and falling in a trench. She stopped the car, and ran towards his car all the way praying for Rathore to be well. She opened Rathore's car, and saw that he was bleeding profusely on his head, and was unconscious. She tried to take him out, but he was too heavy. Thankfully for her, the truck driver had also stopped and was here to help her get him in her car.

She rushed Rathore to the nearest hospital she could find. She had never felt so helpless than today. "Why do these things always happens with her? it was as if happiness was running away from her!" she thought to herself.

Meanwhile in the orphanage

Riya put back her ring and came out to go and give her lessons of self defense. When she went to the play ground, she was waiting eagerly to see Arjun, afterall he was supposed to give lessons with her. However when she reached there, Arjun wasn't anywhere to be seen. He was probably away, she thought. She tried her best to put her best smile in front of the kids, and showed them some steps of defense. She hardly knew that Arjun, despite not being near her, wasn't that very far, he was actually looking out at her from a nearby window. He was trying his new formula, "Distance makes heart grow fonder!" so he was going to stay a bit away from her for some hours.

After the lessons, Riya asked the kids to go and have their lunch. But she stayed there itself, standing alone on the playground. She was lost in her thoughts, which were wholly on Arjun and his whereabouts.

"Where was he?" she was thinking, when she heard some noises behind her. she turned to see Arjun strolling lazily towards her with a big smile. But she wasn't in a mood to even look or smile at him, so she turned and get her things in her hands and prepared to go back to her room, all the while ignoring Arjun. But unfortunately for her, Arjun blocked her path stopping her from going anywhere.

Arjun stared at Riya, she looked so angry, yet she was still so beautiful, in fact she looked even more beautiful, with fire in her eyes.

"Kya hua Ri, naraz kyun ho?" Arjun said innocently, though he was hoping that she was missing her.

"Nothing, let me go! Mera raasta chodiye!" Riya said angrily.

"Pata hein Ri, you look even more beautiful when you are angry!" Arjun said in a romantic mood.

"Really? It doesn't make any difference to me!" Riya said and tried to go away by taking another way, but Arjun wouldn't let her go.

"Arjun, let me go!" Riya said with tears in her eyes. She no longer understood herself, a few minutes away she was dying to see him, and now that he was here, she was fighting and trying to run away from him. And on top Arjun didn't seem to be affected at all, all seemed to be games for him.

"Arre Ri, kya hua? Why are you crying?" Arjun said when he noticed the tears in her eyes. He raised his hands to wipe the tears, but Riya took one step back, as if telling him not to touch her. So he let his hands fall down, and turned so that Riya could pass. He never wanted to make his Ri cry, but he didn't understand Riya at all. He hadnt even done anything, and yet she was crying! He'll never understand woman! Too complicated creatures for him!

When Riya passed next to him and was going away, he couldn't stop himself from saying very slowly, "Unless you tell me, how would I know what's wrong?"

On hearing his words, Riya stopped herself. She knew she was being completely difficult, and Arjun was still trying his best. And he was right, unless she could share her views and problems, how would Arjun understand her feelings. She finally turned and looked at Arjun in his eyes.

"Don't you ever dare go away from here! I may say things like "Go away", "I don't wanna see your face", "leave me alone", but I want you always in front of my eyes! Where were you last night during diner? And right now? Where have you been during the lessons! Don't you know you don't have the right to go anywhere without telling me!" Riya said quickly, and finally when she was done, she ran away without giving Arjun any chance for reply.

Arjun was going to run after her, when suddenly his mobile rang.

"Yep bhabhi-ji, kyu hua? Dewar ka khayal kaise aya apko?," he said picking up the call when he saw it was Shaina's call, with a smile.

But his smile soon faded when Shaina told him about Rathore's accident. He ran to Riya's room, knowing full well she'd hate him if he didn't tell her about Rathore's accident. He knocked on the door, and without waiting for any reply, just entered Riya's room. He was shocked to see that Riya was in the process of changing her clothes.

Riya screamed when finding him in her room, she immediately hid herself using a bed sheet, and shouted at him, "Arjun what are you doing here?i never meant that you had to come in my room also!"

"Ri, Rathore's just had an accident! He's in a hospital with Shaina!" Arjun said very worried.

"Oh god," Riya said, and forgetting her state of undress, she went towards Arjun with her bedsheet, and put her hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry, he'll be fine! Wait for me, I'll also go with you!"

She took her clothes and went to change quickly in her bathroom, and within one minute was out. They both hurried to the hospital, with Riya driving, because Arjun was too worried for Rathore.

At the hospital

Shaina was waiting outside the operation theatre alone, and crying a lot, when Arjun and Riya reached there. Riya immediately went to hug Shaina, and comfort her saying everything will be ok.

"What happened Shaina? How come he's here?" Arjun asked after some time, no longer being able to deal with the wait.

Shaina told Arjun what had happened, but she also didn't know the reason of Rathore's pain. They all waited for another half an hour, when finally the doctor came out.

"Nothing to worry, he had hit his head, but thankfully he didn't sustain much damage on his head! However he has broken one of his ribs, but the operation went well! We just need him to wake up now, with he'll probably do after some hours, when the drugs' effect start to fade," the doctor said and went away.

Arjun, Shaina and Riya waited till finally Rathore gained consciousness.
