Indo China Relations

The relationship we share with China is much more complex than with other neighbors owing to the clout China enjoys in Global scheme of things-economic and strategic.

Since both are not traditional powerhouses but intend to be in the future, there's is bound to be tension between the two countries. At best, what we can have is uneasy peace.

Looking at things from India's perspective, it really needs to shed its lethargic attitude as regards to policies and reforms which can make a difference. It needs to be visionary. Look at China- it jumped into Africa sensing business opportunities , India just followed. India used to have good relations with most of its neighbors, but even that is not a given now. China is challenging India's clout, be it in Sri Lanka or Maldives.

Please, India, please- rise and earn your self respect. Rest will follow.

India is in a unique position geo-strategically to keep China's security(esp energy security) and hence its non-plan expenditure on tenterhooks. But even though our position looks formidable, we have never managed to leverage it for use in coercive diplomacy, remaining confined to being perceived a soft state by nearly all our neighbors. Heck even Sri Lanka and Maldives brush us off too easily now 😆
