Sharman Joshi and Manish Paul may star in what makers calls an "adapted version, not a direct remake"
Anew film has been added to the list of the many yesteryear movies that are currently being remade in Bollywood. Producer Vishwaas Paandya of White Stripes Entertainment has now bought the rights to remake the Dharmendra-Amitabh Bachchan starrer, Chupke Chupke (1975). However, the producer says that he doesn't "want to call the film a remake". "I am making an adapted version. It's a recreation, not a direct remake in the true sense," he explains.
He adds, "We bought the rights five years ago and have been working on it since then. The script is being written by SajidFarhad. They have completely adapted it into a new screenplay; like how Bol Bachchan (2012) was an adapted version of Gol Maal (1979). My film won't be similar to Chupke Chupke in terms of each frame."
Rubbishing rumours of David Dhawan directing the film, Vishwaas says, "That's not true. The director of the film is Umesh Shukla (director of OMG – Oh My God! 2012)." Even though sources reveal that Sharman Joshi, Manish Paul and Paresh Rawal have agreed to star in the film, Vishwaas refuses to confirm details about the casting. "I will only be able to comment on that in a week," he says.
The cult classic, Chupke Chupke, was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.
