There were so many debates on 'in our time and in your time'. About technology, about gadgets, films, choice of lifestyle etc. In our time we had good old doordarshan with clean serials and in your time you watch shows like Bigg Boss😛. In our time we watched children singing clean songs in meri awaaz suno and in your time children croon 'Beedi jaliale' in Saregamapa. I remember once my grandmother telling me about how neat films were in their time and I argued that even Nutan and Nargis wore bikini then. Do you think this comparison and generation gap debate is required? Does it really make any sense?

Maya ji !!

Very nicetopic.

Consider our Debate Mansion. We have people of different ages.We have people in early 40's like Jatayu ji ,Dr Abhijit ji.We have people in 30's like Minni ji ,Sowmyaa ji,Sareg ji.We have people in late 20's like you,me.We have kids like Buffiee,MNMS,T.

Each of us belong to different age group and our ideas refer to our good times. For instance,I don't like discussing the topics related to Virginity,Gay,Lesbian things.I think its not necessary to debate in public about those issues. But more young people enthusiastic to face the world discuss these things because they find nothing wrong in it.

Say talking loud in public, nowadays young people don't think this is a point but I feel talking loud in public is indecent.

Say wearing itsy bitsy clothes. If we restrict people they brush us aside by saying "You orthodox fool!!".Consider a simple garnment duppatta.Earlier people used to put in neatly with safetly pins on both the shoulders.Later, they used to put in on one shoulder. Now a days girls don't use it properly, they drape it around neck.

Views change according to the age.I feel this disussion on generation gap is valid because We always have some or the other point to learn from elders.

Cheers,

Mythili

That is the same fashion which was in late 60s and 70s.

Once a time Came When we Bcom GrandFather/mother , and our Grandchilds are discussing that topic. So It Means the World changes time by time , But People Never change, The kinds Of thoughts we have now , same thoughts we have when we bcom Older. Every thing is changed According to Generation's Thoughts. Fashion , Passion , Music, Style Even everything .

Hey..

To be honest i think their is alot of difference Btn ago ppl & now...😳

I kind of agree wiv Mythili_kiran!!!😊

Ago ppl had respect for each other & especially their parents! Whereas Now (I dun knw abt other countries But in UK) teenagers dont even talk wiv their parents! They literally abuse their parents! I feel so sorry abt those parents!!!

As far as d dressing sense, i think dat in oldies actresses used to wear(mini skirts, rtc) dat type of clothes coz dey were told by d directors! But i dun think dat all the girls in d late 70's/80's used to wear them... My mum never wore a jeans ibefore her marriage! She was used to wear saree & Salwaar kameez! Where as Now, Most of the girls wear all d fashion clothes doesnt matter whether its Mini skirt or a spagetti top!

Last thing, In d oldies Girls never used to talk wiv boyz!😳 Now... Dun even ask😆😆😆

I think dat d comparision & generation gap debate is required!😊

Take Care

😆 MYTHILIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!

When i became a kid? ...You could call me and buffie as teens .. tsk tsk .. kya na-insaafi hai reee!😆

And Tea Dot Jee has stepped out of her teens 😆 ... but i think she doesn't mind being called a kid 😉😛😆

OK .. back to topic😛

First of all, i didn't know that i face a "GENERATION GAP" b/w my own DMers 😲 .. i mean .. young DMers 😆 ... but the case is same at my house.. my parents belong from the 70's era .... i hear this all the time from my mom "In our times .. we didn't use to do this, that........" ... i need to tell her everytime that mom, things and time have changed! Technology, Globalization are NOT minor things.. they have affected the whole generation... and me being a Hard Core Feminist... ideas and thoughts are bound to be different at my home!😉 I sometimes argue and even disagree with the POV of my parents ... but that doesn't mean that im not civilized and ill-mannered girl! I thank GOD that my parents are liberal enough that they listen to me, and sometimes even have taken my suggestion to make an important decision!

Communication is v necessary for healthy relationships between the 2 generations.. Even i feel that my sisters are more orthodox than my parents😕... that is again i can say a gap of 17 years between me and them... but they have teen kids...SIGH! God bless /and help them [the kids]😆 I only have to wait and watch!!!!!😈😆😆

Arrey ye kaun sa zamana tha? Hum se to bus keh diya ja tha - ye uncle hain, woh aunty hain!

On a serious note, I guess this statement will exist in its various forms for as long as human beings exist. I used to have endless arguments/discussions with my mother too, but as I have grown older I have begun to behave like what she used to when she was my age. However, there is one crucial difference - I teach students in their late teens and early twenties, so I am somewhat more clued-in to the changes happening around, and therefore do not feel that there is a huge chasm between me and the youngsters. Moreover, it's just a way of parents or our elders making us aware of how their lives were different from ours. It's healthy if it just remains a statement, and does not become a contentious bone between two generations (or even three), nor should it be the mantra by which parents expect their progeny to lead their lives! In such a scenario, it would be nothing, but a recipe for unmitigated disaster. Waise hamarey zamaney mein bacchey itne badey badey sawaal nahin uthatey thay! 😆
