I'm gonna seem like the sore thumb in this thread because my opinions are fairly different from everyone else's...but I'll give it a shot anyway š
From what I've seen in the credits, the director has not changed, so I guess it's fair to presume that in fact, nothing has happened to him. He's human after all, and with the maha chaos post-replacement, I wouldn't be surprised if he's just fed up. Despite holding the ultimate position on the creative throne (i.e. having the opportunity to guide everything and everyone into the right direction), he is still unable to exercise his creative rights! Viewers are either cribbing about the replacement (which I initially was) or they're constantly suggesting (often demanding) new tracks in the storyline (which I currently am)... if I was in his place, I'd be sick and tired of all this white noise in the background and would inevitably lose focus.
Furthermore, it takes time to set up the foundation for a good track...a good track can't be shown in one episode or over the course of one week. For a show like BV, with an abundance of characters, the tracks need to be laid out slowly and steadily (not at a snail's speed, but not at a hare's speed either) so the viewers are able to digest it properly and actually absorb the social message that is being portrayed. BV isn't your average soap opera, so unlike other shows, romance between the lead couple is a part of the storyline, not the storyline itself.
I'm not disagreeing with the topic maker's suggestions about AnSh's post-marriage life...but I don't think you or I are the only ones who have such a bright future planned out for AnSh... I'm sure the entire production team has a lot of ideas in their kitty that they're waiting to present, but they can't do so immediately. They have to take calculated measures before churning out episodes, because at the end of the day, showbiz is a business. For example, they had to go a little slow with their story post-replacement so that the new actress can find her feet and the viewers can also see her further establishing and strengthening an long existing relationship with the Singhs. Then came Udaipur, where the story picked its pace and that's because the new actress had settled in and as Anandi (I know a lot of people will disagree with my point here, but please don't turn this thread into a kabaddi match due to one statement made by me!).
While I'm loving the current episodes, I do agree with you on the aspect of kitchen politics and all that jazz...but that's probably the production team's decision to play their cards smartly... it wouldn't be wise on their end to telecast something other than kitchen politics at the moment simply due to the IPL hungama. (Unfortunately) the show's TRPs garner them profit (or so I've heard and read..correct me if I'm wrong), and in this money-making business known as the TRP game, it's easier and better to compete with other tv serials as opposed to IPL (which stands in a category of its own!). Once IPL is over and their viewership (whatever's left of it) has returned, the production team will surely pull up their socks. š
The kitchen politics is quite a drag though, and I'm sure we'll all agree on that! But I guess it's a harsh look into reality as well...shitty sister-in-laws will go to any extent to make their bhabhi's lives hell...and in such scenarios, an added bonus is a shittier mother-in-law! š Believe me, saas-bahu sagas don't stem from nothing! š
I don't mean to sound like the director's chamchi š ...I'm just giving him and the entire production team some benefit of the doubt here. I haven't been watching BV since day one, I only started watching it earlier this year and that too online (I only caught up with episodes post Shiv's entry š³) ..so naturally, I haven't seen the golden days of BV and maybe that's why I might sound off key to a lot of ardent and passionate viewers.
