Chapter 21:

Shukria gave Asad the address to her house and the hospital and left the khan mansion. Asad began to pack his bags right away. Najma and his ammi helped him pack. As soon as he was packed he put the suit cases in the car. He came back inside to eat a bit and go. His ammi gave him an early dinner since he had to go.

Once he was done he went into his room to grab his ticket passport and wallet. Before he left he had hugged Najma and his ammi.

Dilshad: Take care ofyourslef and bring her back Asad. Bring Zoya back.

Asad: Ammi, I've never let you down and I wont start now.

He hugged her one more time and left.

The driver drove him to the airport as fast as he could go.

*** 20 Hours later ***

The plane had finally reached New York. After all the formalities Asad ran out of the airport. He got a cab and instructed the cab driver to drive to the New York Downtown Hospital. After about half an hour he reached the Hospital. He ran out with his bag into the hospital. He went up to the main desk to ask for Zoya

Asad: Hi my friend was admitted to this hospital about 2 days ago. Her name is Zoya Farooqui. Can you get me the room number she is in?

Office Lady: Sure thing. *searches on computer* Your friend has already had her sugery so she should be in the rooms on floor number 5. Ill write it down for you.

She wrote down the information and gave the paper to Asad.

Asad: Thank you so much.

He went to the elevator and went up to the 5 floor. He walked around looking for the room number 0420. After 6 minutes of searching he found the room. He took a deep breath in and opened the door. He walked in to see a lifeless Zoya laying on the bed. She had bruised arms and her face was scratched all over. Looking at Zoya, Asad got tears in his eyes. He walked up to the chair beside her and sat down. He held her hand and began to cry.

Asad: Zoya. Wake up Zoya. You can't be like this. Wake up.

He continued to cry as he held her hand. Suddenly the door opened.

Man: Excuse me? Who are you?

Asad looked up

Asad: I'm asad. Zoya's close friend, and you.

Man: I'm Asif. Zoya's fianc.

Asad was shocked.

Asad: You're lying. Thats not possible.

Asif: Look at her hand. Why is there a ring on it then.

Asad looked down to her hand. A ring was placed on her soft finger.

Asif: If you please don't mind now can you excuse us.

Asad got up from his chair all shattered. As he was about to leave, something grabbed his hand.

He turned around to see Zoya awake holding his hand.

Zoya was quiet weak. It was hard enough to hold his hand and harder for her to get up from the bed.

Zoya: Asad. Mat jao.

Asif: ZOYA! You're awake.

Zoya: yes asif. Can you please give me and asad a minute to talk. Alone.

Asif: But Zoe...

Zoya: Please.

Asif: Alright. I'll tell the doctor.

He gave Asad a dark stare and left the room.
