The proposal 'SAJAN OS
He was in a bad mood. She was not here. He just didn't know what to do. He felt sick in his stomach. In a few minutes, the party host would be announcing the dreaded news. He hated it. He was wished she was here.
It all started with a fight- a big misunderstanding. She was his sister's flatmate. It was hatred at first sight. He had just got out of a broken relationship. She had just moved in with his sister. They hated each other.
Then his dog was the reason for the first step towards getting to know each other. She was passionate about dogs, long walks, drives, food and so many things that he was fond of.
They slowly became each other's support, best friend. 3am friend, confidant and shared a great trust and understanding. She was a chirpy and bubbly girl who used to listen, giving him more than a patient hearing. He was a balanced a person who didn't like to be what girls always expected him to be. They became inseparable friends.
Days passed and she slowly developed feelings for him but didn't tell him. She was scared of losing him and preferred to keep their friendship intact. It was his sister who discovered the truth, but was forced to keep it a secret.
Entered another girl. Sheena was Daddy's daughter. She wanted Samrat and only Samrat. Her daddy asked Samrat to work with him, the intention was to marry him to Sheena. When he came to know this, it was late.
Gunjan was gone. She wanted to visit her sister in the UK. But her real reason was to run away from her pain of losing him forever. He didn't know he had feelings for her, He was missing her, and also came to know about Sheena's daddy's plan of having a party where he would announce and officiate the engagement. H ebegan to dread it, and missed her so much it hurt.
It was his sudden emotional swings which convinced his sister that he was also in love. But she was sworn to secrecy. She felt the pain her brother had, but wanted him to confess to her.
It was at the venue of the party. He felt sick in his stomach. In a few minutes, the party host would be announcing the dreaded news. He hated it. He was wished she was here. Suddenly his sister came and as a last resort asked him if he loved Chashmish. He was surprised and then it hit upon him. But he didn't want to destroy the friendship. His sister told him about Gunjan's feelings and he was stupefied.
The party started. And he saw Gunjan suddenly. Gunjan had decided to come and face the world as she saw her best friend get engaged. He felt relieved as he saw her. He felt emotional. Just then Sheena's silly gang of girls whisked him away. Sheena's daddy asked him to come forth and stand beside Sheena. Sheena came beside him with her giggling friends.
His friends. His sister. His family. They adored Gunjan. They looked at him, with expectations. He listened as Sheena's daddy began his announcement. He glanced at Gunjan's pale expression.
Sheena's daddy said- Toh Samrat Shergill. Tell them the name of the lucky girl you want and love.
Samrat looked at him, then at Sheena who reminded him of his past girlfriends. He then turned towards the guests. Gunjan was almost slinking away to his sister's behind.
''I love and want no one but-''
Sheena came forth, expectantly, showing her huge smile.
''Gunjan Bhushan.''
The room grew silent. Sheena's smile vanished and she looked at him then at her Daddy.
''Daddy!''
The daddy came forward- Samrat?!
Meanwhile Samrat's family and friends were smiling and grinning away. Gunjan stood rooted to the spot. She stared at him. He stared at him.
Then with a resolute determination, he walked off in her direction, ignoring Sheena's wails and her daddy's ''Samraat!?''
He came up in front of her. She looked at him. Their eyes looked deep into each other. Then she smiled. He smiled.
''I love you Samrat''
''I love you Chashmish''
They took each other's hands.
Then the couple walked away, at an equal pace, proudly holding their heads high, happily giving each other stolen glances.
