In my view a true devotee of the lord is not the one who proclaims that he/she prays to the lord or the one who does publicity of prayers. but its the one

1)who doesnt think bad abt others- thinking bad/low of others is the 1st thing we should stop. getting offended by mere posts on IF? Will that please the lord? there r unncessary fights in all forums for silly things like "how dare u bash my fav". let me take revenge on u by bashing ur fav.

do u think now after bashing n hurting others n then saying that ur a devotee of the lord will help?

by attacking other members will mahadev be happy?

2)who is kind and helping- one who helps the needy automatically gets blessings from the lord.

3)one who is not narrow minded- if one thinks openly and has pure intentions then im sure the lord will be pleased. we shud try think with open mind and heart. then we will never be hurt abt anything.

4)respect for the creation of the god: we should be respectful to the lord's creations whether they r plants animals or humans.

5)silent prayers: i dont believe in chanting slokas at the top of my voice and creating nuisance in the entire house/locality. or playing sound on loudspeakers. what is the use of such a prayer that disturbs others? someone might be studying someone might be sleeping. will god be pleased if others are disturbed due to his prayers? so i believe in praying in mind and not in loudspeaker way.

6)publicity: i ve seen ppl doing publicity of how much they pray. i ve heard things like "i pray for 2 hours daily" "i have read 20 holy books with so n so names". do we pray to connect to god or do we pray for publicity?

7)jealousy: Being jealous about what other's have and what we dont. There are numerous instances where we end up feeling jelous of others "oh she got more marks than me in exams"

"he earns more money than i do" "how could she? she has a 20K worth mobile while my mobile is only of 5K". Being jealous of others will never keep anyone happy. we end up being angry, frustrated and unhappy. Hence goes the popular saying "Be happy with what you have".

im not stricly following all these. but i try to follow as much as possible. im not a perfectionist. but scope for improvement is always there.

beautiful post dear...devotion is not for show...to b a true devotee you even needn't to do chant hymn or worship or going to temple ..you have to follow your lord or devi's teaching by heart...even atheist can b called devotee if he shows devotion through work..by working for other's good

and even in forum when i see people fight over there favs then i feel yu are even not called true fan of your fav if you want to show your fav better at the cost of bad mouthing other..coz your fav has no need to prove someone inferior to b best and if u try to do show then you are disrespecting your fav

be good to everyone in life,try not to hurt others,dont create negativity but rise above it

Life is beautiful,we should learn and absorb the nice parts of it,rather than getting involved in baseless fights that well...lead you no where!

this fan fights "wars" as you may call it ,only leaves people bitter!

once DKDM gets over(which it eventually will) those who fight will be left frustrated,angry,depressed..not worth it!

Just be happy-spread happiness,wish well for others

Keep your intentions pure,have a pure heart-if you have a dirty heart and mind you will automatically look at others with suspicion and disgust, because you perceive them to be as bad as you!

Be happy,spread love,if you love someone pray for thier happiness,thier well being-why fight?,but fighting you arent making matters better only making them worse...

for yourself,for the other party and yes for your favorite too!

Be honest to your self,if you are a good person,you dont need to prove your loyalties to anyone,or shout from the roof top about being devotional

whats the use of chanting hymns and reading scriptures,if you yourself are not a good person!

being a TRUE devotee is being a good person at heart,being kind,compasionate-and that comes from within...:)

Devotion is a way of life. Whatever is done sincerey, accomplishing a task or study is devotion. Some days back I was asked, where has your bhakti reached? I was surprised, told her I am so lazy, don't know if can be called a bhakta. This is higly personal, not to be shown off.

It takes one in right path, makes you happy, creates +ve vibes, makes one connect to the Divine. For me this is just a way of life, not something specially created by force. As we learn all these qualities from the time we are born.

They way I see Devotion
TO live life is itself is a devotion.
To accept what God has given to us devotion.

If you want to prove your point then do it.. but don't try to prove it by hurting some one.

When you say something to any person.. THINK BEFORE YOU say... 1000 times... May be.. May be she/he will feel bad.. he will get hurt.. I know by doing this.. you have to be hurt.. i mean.. you will hurt yourself.. but making smile someone.. you can get 1000 s of love affection from God.

To love people, animals, nature is devotion. Don't say Cheee to any of the animals like Dog, Cats , any of them.. They include God inside themselves. Each and every leaving being is having god inside themselves. To love them is the way to reach god. To love them is to love God and to Love God is the true devotion.

Never ever try to criticise any one like .. see what he is doing/looking.. whatever may be... and if do so.. then once beg forgive infront of God.
Chugli ( Gossiping about others life , there way of living..relationships etc ...) Is the worst thing I feel.. It really harms you more than anything... because whatever they are Its there life/ fate and its on there own agreement.

Thats wot my way to see life.. See yourself. just think about your life.. Help people who need urs. and Be happy, keep smiling... make others laugh. Thats all

this is actually a major issue. i dont know y ppl fight over tv actors. after all we watch tv for entertainment. whats there to feel angry n threaten for revenge if ur fav is criticized? not just that they take comments on actors personally as if they themsellves r being criticized.

ppl have even gone to the extent of verbally abusing each other on facebook and posting derogatory comments with filthy language on other's walls and some crying coz their fav was bashed.

i find all this so much laughable that i feel common how much time are they wasting in bashing others. we would have used that precious time in doing something good.

ya kadambari. u know ppl spend more time in bashing other's fav rather than loving and supporting ur own. they try to prove their own as best at the cost of mudslinging on the fans of others.

u must be well aware of the famous iccha(td) v/s tapasya(rd) fan fights ryt?😆😆

All the points that you have mentioned in your post are correct & should be followed by every person.

Devotion is not just showing off, but it is your own way of doing it, whether you do for hours or just for a few minutes. What matters is the fact is your faith in the God.

Beautifully said...i would not spread like wildfire that i have read books, Do Jaap, Infact i discuss with others on what i read so i can get more insight , ask my Guru & Lord to always guide me on the right path & help me grow in Spirituality. A Devotee... is a one who silently tells Thank u to Lord, who respects & avoid hurting his other Children. Who Sing praises of his Creation & to realize How much He has done for us. Who should learn from God on "what is Unconditional Love" like he have for us...Who Should Not waste his time in Blaming his Karma, people, Situation infact what Change or solution should be taken out...Prabhu is everywhere in every atom...Just have faith & purity & total devotion towards him... what Bliss we get in his Sharan(shelter). That Happiness is just Unmeasured just like him... Bolo Om Namah Shivay...
