I do not think she is turning negative. She is hating the fact that everyone is comparing Ganga with Anandi.
As a mother I can understand her feelings. If someone comes and starts comparing their child to mine and starts praising them or equating them to my child.. my inner instincts will wanna kick their tush LOL
thats how mothers are...

The only way for Sumitra to not behave that way is when they stop comparing Ganga with Anandi.
I hope Ganga sees that.. cause I think she is very smart and will tell everyone that she is not like Anandi and different.
So probably that is when Sumi will feel better towards Ganga.

SEcondly Anandi was raised by her so , no way she thinks her to be as her daughter in law. Where as Ganga will be DIL. So there will be comparisons unintentional which will lead to tiffs. But Ganga being Ganga will handle it and SUmitra being nice-basic nature of hers -- will see her error and agree.
There just needs to be someone to point her mistake out and she will change. Just like how when Jagya pointed that why is she being biased towards his marriage .. when in fact her own daughter and Anandi both were married twice.
Sumitra agreed after listening to him and smiled.
So once someone points out that she is wrong in her thinking Be that Jagya or Anandi or bhairav she will see the error of her ways.
