Will Aashiqui 2 repeat magic of first Aashiqui ?

Not many films have ruled the hearts of audience for as long as Aashiqui did.The film still continues to linger in the memories of cinema lovers even after a long span of 23 long years particularly for its music.The film took everyone by surprise and introduced new dimensions for musical love stories in Hindi cinema.As is the case with every successful film,there were high prospects of its sequel but it took the makers 23 years to find a strong story which could justify the "Aashiqui" brand

Before analyzing the prospects of Aashiqui 2,let us first find out the factors which made Aashiqui such a stupendous success.Though most people consider the music of the film to be the biggest and probably the sole factor in this success but you cant undermine the story this film had ,a story which beautifully captured the conflicts in youth relations and the prevalence of self independence among the youth.Such was the hysteria created by the soundtrack of the film that it is till date ,the most popular film OST in terms of physical sales (cassettes). It made the careers of singer Kumar Sanu and composers Nadeem-Shravan.
The film marked the debut for Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal.The film got 4 Filmfare awards that year as well.

Matching the brilliance of Aashqiui is certainly an Uphill task.Just like its predecessor,Aashiqui 2 relies heavily on its soundtrack for a smooth sailing at the boxoffice and going by the reception the entire soundtrack has received so far with "Tum Hi Ho" becoming an anthem,the film has cleared this test with ease.It has been the best music album of the year so far.Another factor that will work in the favour of film is its budget.The film has been made at a modest budget with a relatively new star cast including the lead pair of Aditya Roy Kapoor(London Dreams,Action Replay,Guzzarish) and Shraddha Kapoor(Teen Patti,Luv Ka The End), similar to its predecessor.The film has been primarily targeted at the Youth.The trailer has evoked a positive response from the audience too.
All these factors ensure that the film will register a good opening at the multiplexes.

Ultimately,the content will be the deciding factor in the chances of this film repeating the magic of Aashiqui.
The boxoffice performance of the films this year has been nothing short of an eyeopener for the fans as well as the film industry with the small and good films having longer run at the boxoffice and the content being the ultimate deciding factor and as for Aashiqui 2 whether these things will be beneficial or not only time will tell

Still Aashiqui 2 has the potential to take everyone by surprise just like the earlier film in the franchise.
