First, Gauri was ill she couldn't dance.
Next, Gauri was recovering and Hiten was giving her moral support so they couldn't give their 100 per cent to the performance. So on and so forth... so the couple managed to pull in some sympathy votes on Nach Baliye 2. But the fourth time they just could not perform and yet they were in the suraksha chakra!
Another clever ploy to keep reminding the gullible janta 'hey you can't let your favourites down!' was, constantly calling them out by their on-screen names - Karan and Nandini...
That's going too far protecting the star parivar jodi.
