...please do not throw andas at this post. I am just writing about an actor who breathed life into a hitherto bad antagonist.
Tanveer, when played by Nisha, came across as someone who was simply stuck in bad circumstances constantly. I felt more bad for her and never got mad at her presence. Come Holi and she turned into a game changer. Agreed that the character may not be very well written with extremely ridiculous attempts to avenge everything that was wrong in her life; but one small change in the form of Amrapali Gupta and boom! We have a character so grey that you know she means business when she comes on screen. She is more sorted out but vulnerable at the same time. When the whiter shades of her persona come out, you actually empathize. When she schemes against the leads you want to wipe her out of the story entirely. Such oscillations can come only when the actor portraying a role is good.
Qubool Hai has one of the most well-rounded ensemble cast on television right now. No one is singularly jarring and that is an achievement in itself. Razia had to be a fantastic villain merely because Alka Kaushal was essaying that role. Amrapali Gupta as a secondary antagonist has only upped the ante according to me.
On second thoughts, the following are actually jarring -
- the meow score for Tanveer
- Ayaan strumming his guitar. If not better acting, can someone teach him how to do that please!
