Shah Rukh to replace Bachchan as 'Million

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan will replace iconic actor Amitabh Bachchan as the host of "Kaun Banega Crorepati", the Indian version of popular quiz show "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire", a statement said.

The hit show, which ran for two series and was broadcast by Rupert Murdoch's Star Network, was hugely popular but was taken off the air in January after Bachchan, 65, had stomach surgery.

"Bachchan expressed his inability to shoot with us any further, and we respected that," said Sameer Nair, chief executive of Star Entertainment India.

"It is a huge act to follow, that of Mr Bachchan," said Khan, 42 and one of Bollywood's leading hearthrobs. No date was given for the start of filming.

see what did I tell u all. Mr. Bachchan because of his serious illness has been unable to take this show on, not that Star has thrown him out of the contract. Seriously the way Media distorts the picture is so ridiculous. This article confirms that Mr. Bachchan himself stepped out of the contract. Besides the whole thing of INR 286 crores is preposterous. Anything to do with SRK has to be a ridiculosus figure. That is what the media partners said within 3 days of the release of Don that it has made 75 crores. Can u even believe this kind of nonsensical rumour. Don is still on 46 crores net after 5 weeeks if you go to box office India website. And that is the gross reality.

I wouldn't believe this figure even if Mr. Bachchan was doing the show. I know that he was paid some 15 crores or somthing for his first KBC edition. so a leaa from 15 to 286 crores is ridiculous actually it is trash. The KBC show caters to only a very limited genre of audience simply becasue the show is supposed to be very knowledge driven and is heavy on intelelctual and grey matter. Can you really believe that a majority of the Indian populations has the ability to understand and comprehend the complexity of the questions and answers. Media just blows peoples brains out with ridiculous figures just to hype certain actors and shows. 😕
