Married or knot?
Varanasi, Nov 27 (ANI): Amidst speculations about her marriage with Abhishek Bacchan, beauty queen-turned actress Aishwarya Rai accompanied the Bachhan family to offer Mangal Aarti at the Kashi Vishwanath temple here. Rai landed at the holy city on Sunday night at 10 pm along with Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachhan son Abhishek, daughter Shweta Nanda, brother Ajitabh, his daughter Namrata and family friend and Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh. Jaya Bacchan who was already in the city shooting for a Yash Raj banner film also joined the family. At 3 am this morning, the family offered Mangal Aarti after performing a prayer last night at the Vishwanath temple here last night. Prayers were also offered at the Ram Janaki Temple near the Sankat Mochan Temple after which the family participated in an aarti for Lord Hanuman. Besides the Mangal Aarti, the 'Rudra Abhishek' rituals were also performed by Bollywood's first family at the ancient temples here. The family which was accompanied by security guards and armed police personnel also observed the 99th birth anniversary of Amitabh's father and noted Hindi poet Harivanshrai Bacchan. The offering of water to the presiding deity or 'jalabhishek' was performed by Amitabh and Jaya Bacchan. Kashi Vishwanath Temple priest Srikant Tripathi asked Abhishek and Aishwarya to make the water offering. When asked whether the prayers were offered to reduce the influence of Mars on the actors, the priest revealed that no specific reason was mentioned for the conduct of the prayers. Meanwhile, astrologer Chandramouli Upadhyaya, after meeting the Bachhans here last night, informed that there was nothing fixed regarding the marriage, but the family was there to offer prayers to overcome a problem relating to Aishwarya's horoscope. There have been enough rumours in the media about marriage between Abhishek and Aishwarya, but neither family has confirmed it. Abhishek and Aishwarya have starred together in Hindi films like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Kuch Na Kaho, recently-released Umrao Jaan and Dhoom II as also Mani Ratnam's forthcoming .
