Dhurandhar looked at Asad's soft emotional face with a deep thought. Cleaned his own eye under the glasses as though trying to wipe off an invisible tear. No more questions were asked and Dhurandhar declared Asad and Zoe as a couple. gave Zoe a visa extension and left the mansion congratulating them on their pending engagement.
No. It wasn't Zoe's ridiculously outlandish yet adorable stories of joggers park, puppy in a basket with a note, pink flowers , Asad bent on one knee asking for her hand that convinced Dhurandhar that they love each-other. It was Asad's face , his emotions and his exact total recall of seeing Zoe for the first time that moved him. Its not that Dhurandhar didn't figure it out that they both were lying about getting engaged - he did. But he pushed it all under the carpet because he read what Asad doesn't want to admit and what Zoe is too foolish and flighty to understand. They want to be together and Dhurandhar read it - not the sagaai.
After Dhurandhar leaves , you get to see Zoe's desperation to get it out of Asad's mouth just once that he wanted to stop her. You see that as much as Asad loves Zoe , he is not ready to fake an engagement - for him, slipping a ring into a woman's finger would mean wrapping his whole life around her and her life around his. For him, something as 'pious' as a man-woman relationship cannot be a facade. Yes, Asad is Bipolar but gotta admit both the polars are bloody right in their spots.
One moment he asks Zoe point blank if she wants to get engaged to him. She says an impulsive 'jee' and he smiles and smirks while she looks as though her antennas are jammed. The next moment, he refuses to put a ring on Zoe's finger because for him to lie about an engagement is one thing . To actually carry out the facade is another.
And Zoe? She didn't just lie to Dhurandhar out of the pinks. All that she mentioned to him, especially about Asad's grand proposal of marriage to her are Zoe's dreams. Somewhere , just as she loves Asad in the layers of her heart, she expects something like this from him one fine day at the back of her mind. Asad on one knee and holding that engagement ring to her , asking -" Miss.Farooqui, kya aap mujhse Nikaah karengi?"
When Asad flatly says that he did all this to keep Zoe in India, her face lights up like a powerplant and she excitedly asks - "Toh aap chaahte hain na ki main ruk jaoo? When Asad refuses to put a ring on her finger as he cannot fake a 'relationship' in the 'ritualistic' sense because he ties faith , honesty and commitment to it , you see Zoe's face fall and she feels her heart lurch. Asad refusing to even 'fake' an engagement with her does not go down well with her.
Call it a fool's paradise but all that fake drama of giving an interview of lovers with Asad, the slightest hints that Asad did all this to stop her from his side- Zoe actually LIVED it all. Believe it or not believe it, Zoe expects pink roses, a puppy and an on-knee-Asad with a ring - Someday.
Strange it is. Very strange. We bash Asad all the time for his bipolar , hot-and-cold flow of emotions.But Zoe? You are so madly in love with Asad and yet you have NO INKLING to how you feel about him? Is it possible to be so oblivious, sorry, blind to all your feels for a man? Meet Zoya Faaruqui. 😆...TBH, i felt that she deserves a punch at the back of her head. Woman! You love him - DEAL WITH IT!
Aur ye end me Zoe ko kisne kahaa mahaan banne ke liye? Asad HATES that house and for him, Siddiqui house symbolizes his mother's destruction and humiliation. To an extent , that even if its for Ayaan, he is not gonna step into that house. The anger , disgust and hatred on Asad's house is enough for anyone close to Asad to understand that going into Siddiqui House is equal to insulting his mother. I know Zoe's intentions are loving and all purity but what is the use? The outcome always gets her into a trouble with Asad. There are some things Asad is abnormally sensitive about and his Ammmie and their past is one of them. For Asad, his Ammie is above everything. Zoe, Asad is not mahaan and trust me, he has very little patience for 'mahaanta'.
For the rest. Shireen and Ayaan asserted themselves today - and i liked that in a way. Yes, Shireen was wrong but am glad that she told Rashid and Badi Bi exactly how she feels. Give her valid reasons and she will listen to you but both Rashid and Badi Bi are stuck on the same record of Ayaan ki khushi and no-khushi since so many episodes.

Seeing Humzie sing and dance made me want to go and slap Ayaan. As usual. Zoe shown between Asad and Ayaan indicates that she will be the bridge between them - now, if that bridge breaks or stays, one has to wait and watch.
Asad's face in the precap as he held the engagement ring in his hands showed that what it means for him to put that ring on a woman's finger. Hopefully, Zoe's finger.
P.S- Dhurandhar has gauged that AsYa are giving a theater performance but he read Asad's feelings. You never know. Dhurandhar and Dolly maybe the hand of fate that they both desperately need.
