|AsYa OS: An Endless Ocean|
He stood at the balcony of his summer house, looking at the sea in front of him, sipping his black coffee. He came here every summer. He loved the sound of the waves hitting the huge rocks on the shore. It relaxed him. He loved the salty mist that filled his lungs and the cool breeze that entangled itself in his hair, making him feel free and happy. He loved how the moon shined on the sea, making it look almost magical.
He had a special connection with the beach. He had always loved the beach as a child but it held a whole different meaning in his life now. It was where he had first met her.
He took another sip of his coffee as his mind travelled back in time, almost three years ago.
**
He was walking on the beach, loving the feel of the wet sand under his feet, praising the Almighty for his wonderful creations. He often came for a peaceful walk on the beach when he felt stressed out. The beach relaxed him.
He sat on the wet sand, admiring the sunset and the waves in front of him. The huge ball of fire dipped in the sea slowly leaving behind a trail of yellow and orange all over the sky. It was just beautiful. He was enjoying the cool breeze across his face, relaxing every nerve in his body.
A few minutes had passed when his gaze shifted towards a lonely figure, crouched some feet away from him. She had a perfect figure and long, black, silky hair that flew behind her with the breeze. He couldn't see her face as she had her legs folded and brought up, her arms around her legs and her face resting on her arms. She seemed to be looking at the sea too.
Something made him keep looking at her and he soon saw her lift her head up, and wipe her face with the back of her hand. She was crying. Asad didn't know what made him stand up and walk towards the woman. He wanted to relax her, make her stop crying. Why? It just felt right.
'Are you okay?', Asad found himself asking, gently tapping her shoulder.
She lifted her face slowly and looked up at him and that when he saw her face. He was mesmerized by her beauty. She had a fair complexion; her lips full and sensuous, her honey-brown eyes so deep, engulfed by a strange emptiness. He could clearly see the trail on her face left by the tears. She was simply beautiful.
Without replying to his question, she went back to her previous position, completely ignoring him.
He thought about leaving her there and going away but something stopped him. It would be dark soon and he did not want to leave her alone. The thought surprised him to no ends. He didn't even know her.
He quietly sat beside her, crossing his legs and looking ahead, towards the last hints of sun rays as they disappeared into the ocean.
'You know, there's this special thing about the breeze here', he found himself saying. 'It can heal everything'.
He looked at her and saw her not reacting at all.
'Do you see the waves there? In fact do you hear them?', he said relaxing himself besides her.
'Don't they make you feel relaxed?', he asked hoping she would respond.
She turned her face towards him and stared at him blankly. She was reacting, he mentally rejoiced.
'Doesn't the salty smell of the ocean make your head feel lighter?', he asked, inhaling deeply to prove his point.
She kept staring at him, as if waiting for him to continue.
'Doesn't the wet sand under you make you feel like you're sitting on the comfiest sofa on Earth?', he asked surprised at his speech. He had never talked like that before.
He sounded like a fifth grader describing ocean in his english exam.
The sound of a small giggle made him feel like the happiest man on the planet. He looked at her face as a small smile played on her lips, making her look even prettier. He didn't think it was possible.
He fell in love with her face, that very instant. The thought made him sound irrational in his head, but he didn't care. He was lost in the moment and he wanted to keep her happy, away from all the worries of the world.
He didn't care if she didn't know him or if he didn't know her. Love at first sight they called it? Well call it that if one may.
'I'm Zoya. Zoya Farooqui', she said in a small voice, looking at him. In fact smiling at him.
He noticed how her eyes suddenly sprang back to life.
'Asad. Asad Ahmed Khan', he replied, smiling back at her, the previous emptiness in them long gone.
'So you come here often?', she asked him straightening herself.
'Everyday', he said. 'This place relaxes me'.
'Thank you', he heard her say, her smile intact.
He looked at her face; everything about it screamed the same words she had just spoken. His heart felt warmer. He wanted to ask her so many questions. Why was she crying? Why was she here sitting alone like this?
But not now. These questions could wait, for Asad Ahmed Khan had just silently vowed to himself to always keep this mysterious woman happy. What made him do that? It just felt right. And noone questioned what was right.
**
He smiled to himself at his favorite memory. He took another sip of his coffee before he felt two soft arms sliding across his chest and resting there.
'What are you thinking about?', Zoya asked, her head comfortably resting on his back, as she hugged him from behind.
Asad smiled and placed his mug on the little table besides them and held her hands gently, bringing her in front of him.
He slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her flush against him, leaving no space between their bodies. She instinctively placed her hands on his broad chest, as a slight blush appeared on her cheeks, earning a small chuckle from Asad.
Even after a whole year of being married, she always reacted to his touch like that and he wouldn't give it away for anything in the world.
'I am thinking about us', he replied, cupping her cheek with one of his hands.
'You know Zoya, I can't thank Allah enough for bringing you to the beach that day', he said staring deep into her honey-brown eyes. 'I can't thank him enough for making me go to you and talk to you', he finished.
Zoya held his hand that cupped her cheek and looking deep into his eyes.
'I love you, Asad', she said sincerely, tearing up with happiness.
'I love you too', he said wiping a lone tear that made its way down her face.
They kissed each other with passion not easy to describe, the ocean behind them witnessing their compassionate love. The cool breeze embraced the two lovers, as if protecting them. Their love was no less than an endless, deep, magestic ocean.
