The IPL has always played havoc with serial TRPs and this year the IPL is bigger and better than before and is drawing away eyeballs from all the popular TV shows. The decline is apparent from the TRP scores that have come out today and Colors has been the worst hit and NBT TRP is on a steep downward trend from 2.2 to 1.9 to 1.6 to an abysmal 1.4 this week and if media planners are to be believed this downward trend could continue. NBT is already in the danger zone and I think they should have weathered the IPL storm and then played their strongest trump card of Meghan's emotional reunion. If you see Diya Bati, Balika Vadhu etc, they are playing weak indifferent tracks right now during the IPL season and saving up their firepower for later.

I think NBT made a strategic mistake. They wasted Jan to March by showing MM separated and TRPs could not grow. And now in the middle of the IPL season, they are wasting their best track of Meghan's reunion which is being missed out. And once IPL gets over, the pressure would be on NBT as they would have already played their strongest card and TRPs might have dwindled to a level beyond repair.

Do you think Sudhirji missed a trick here ?

i think in nbt if they wud have moved according to ipl or any other things then the audiences wud not hve loved it that much. the story is moving at a proper pace and a logical time for everything. nbt is going fine.

They are many shows even in da past which had no decline in trps even in da IPL team...for instance DEK in Sony last yera

they have already fixed the track of events so they wont change the sequence of happenings due to ipl plus its a season rite so they will end it at the rite time for that they have to move the story in a proper pace neither too slow nor too fast.trp shud not have ne role in modifying the content .colors reach is not that wide thats why it is losing ratings its not becoz of the shows they r offering n when the problem is there in their reach recklessly pulling shows off air which fail to garner high trp wont do ne good to them...jahaan channel hai wahan kuch to hona chahiye dikhane ke liye .they have got less audience in smaller regions n more urban audience which in a way benefitted us in getting season 2...listening to us helped them gain popularity among us .getting a season 2 wud have been far from possible had nbt 1 been a show of star plus...

No. Last year also during ipl they introduced Rashmi track which till date remains one of the most enjoyable tracks of NBT. It was later when they introduced manav and raddi track that things went south. They should learn from past mistakes and keep the post ipl track free of any such storylines. Keep it simple and keep it sweet and no trying to garner trps by trying out hackneyed themes.

It is a valid point although I do agree that the pace is good for the story but IPL cant be ignored

Thank you to all for the assurances. Yes, I too believe that there would be several other interesting tracks after IPL which could recover the TRP level.
