Even i have been married for the last 4 yrs now. And i had a love marriage plus our families were friends for ages. But i also believe tht u have to not think tht ur inlaws are ur parents at times. for me its been like i have literally grown up in the laps of my MIL and FIL but i always maintain tht no one can take ur mothers place. Its a diff feel altogether. I have been lucky tht i havent had anything to compromise really except a few small issues but nothign significant..actually while i was engaegd i put everything across the way i am. THe way i dressed, or i didnt know how to cook or friends or whatever. Because atleast tht way u dotn give tht illusion to ur inlaws tht ur something else and then suddenly change after marriage. I dont know if anyone agrees with me or not. I live alone in south america but atleats this way i dont mind living with my inlaws when i go back home. I infact love it because i share a chilled out relationship with them. I can be wearing shorts and going for a walk wioth my FIL or have a drink with him. since i didnt claim to be anything else and i listen to them all the time abt things as in their opinions but also voice mine when i dont agree with theirs and they respect me for tht. I would rather say things on their face than back bite. ITs sometimes how u build ur relationships and touchwood Gods been kind to me there. Feel free to comment if anyone agrees or disagrees

Well mine was a match make marriage and my hubby is the only son and I have no FIL

When i just got married, my sis in law commented about my weight and height and i said hello u re not a beauty queen urself 😉 and the fight after that was sooo bad my parents got involved etc so i have now learned my lesson and decided to be patient

I have the best hubby in the world (touchwood) and i relaise that he is often stuck he knows that his mum is difficult but he also knows that she is sickly, hyper sensitive etc and he keeps telling me to be patient

If not for my hubby i wouldnt go through all this

Thanx surin. I do count my blessings. and exactly like u I too am a very liberal girl ....and i know tht for a fact my mom in law doesnt approve of my wearing revealing outfits but my hubby loves me in them and my FIL is too modern in his thinking so he also doesnt mind at all. And exactly like u...i too have a very supportive hubby so if my MIL tells me anything he handles it himself without involving me and i dont like him getting stuck in these things. Because his support and love means the world to me. I so agree with u on everything u said. Touchwood we should really thank God for blessing us.
