aww..that's sweet. U write very well- would love more posts from you too:)
First off, Surbhi I love you so much. Today's episode was better than yesterdays for me too! Also, I too, LOVED the confrontation scene the MOST. So real! Next in line is the first scene with all three of them in Zoya's room The dream scene was alright, it comes last.i agree, she excelled in the confrontation scene. This is the first time we saw her portray the hurt through sarcasm. What a versatile actress👏
Coming to Asad understanding that Zoya wants to stay: Hmm I don't think he did. My view is that if anything, he only hoped that Zoya maybe wants to stay. Here's how I interpret today's scenes: Asad was offended and hurt that despite all that they have gone through together, Zoya decided to go back without talking to and asking them whether they wanted her to go, particularly him, and also because she is throwing back his words at him and is forgetting all that care he has expressed for her through his actions. When Zoya talks about the visa to Zoya, he turns his head away as if scoffing at her reason and when she says she also doesn't have a reason to stay, he makes full eye contact with her as if challenging her "you really have no reason? what about me?" and then he leaves, still offended (and sad). But if you recall, when they had the chat with the coffee, she did say, "i should leave...haina Mr. Khan?" But he didn't say anything, instead withdrew his hand. Even at night, he regretted that he had not asked her to stay. Just like Asad, Zoya also harbors this fear of rejection, especially now when she is so vulnerable. It would be expecting a lot from her to say, "i want to stay because of you Asad." Zoya knows Asad is capable of replying curtly, "kyun rehna chaahti hain aap? App tho mere liye misfit hain." He could very well say something like that. So, Asad needs to speak up here...he can't expect her to come running into his arms.
Then the confrontation scene. Same thing again. He repeatedly asks hoping she will say her departure is not a confirmed decision. And he takes all her mocking to heart. He does not understand that she is trying to provoke him into asking her to stay. She keeps saying yes she is going; he is hurt and does not know what to do. Then he stands outside her room thinking and decides about the employment papers..not because he has understood that she wants to stay but because he wants to know if she will stay back if she can...he wants her to act not under (the mask of) compulsion (visa expiration) but based on what her true desire is while hoping that her true desire is to stay back.i think the visa issue acted as a buffer...as a third person that both could safely rely on. This way both were relieved of the burden of speaking the truth.
Then at night, like you all said, he conveniently throws the ball in her court in true Asad style: 'Zoya, now your visa excuse is gone. Now whether you go or not will tell me whether you think you have a reason to stay. Let's see what you do.' It's also his way of avoiding being direct (like you said Bheegi, because of his deep rooted fear of rejection and also because of some remnant denial) since currently he doesn't have it in him to lead decision making- he still needs to develop a lot before he reaches that point in his life where he acts with his heart and goes all out for her.yeah, as i said, the visa made it easier for both. They both fear rejection and the visa acted as a glue to keep them together without acknowledging the real reason
It's his luck that Zoya understands him beyond his words and that she does not let her ego stop her from making life easier for him and cutting him some slack.
By the way, I also didn't quite like Zoya's immediate decision and verbalization of staying back. The CVs should have just ended the episode with a small smile playing on her face.i think the directors have to do this for the rest of the junta that doesn't watch this show as carefully as we do lol
ps: I do not like it that Zoya (and Dilshaad) keeps saying she has no one in the world. She may have no blood relatives but her position is also not as bad as that of a truly orhpaned person. Her aapi and jeeju have fulfilled the role of parents. Sure there is still a big void in her life but she is being unfair when she says mein hamesha se akeli hoon. CVs, you don't have to exaggerate things to drive home a point.again, that's to garner more sympathy from the audience.
