hey, i can understand your frustration...but i felt their dance was very nice to watch, even if technically inaccurate...i guess the choreographer had loosely based it on naga-assam border dances, but incorporated bamboo steps to make it more north-eastern, rather than a focussing on a specific region there...

also, a lot of times, even other regions are not protrayed correctly on screen..e.g., i've seen garba steps (gujurati) being done in rajasthani dance (even though they can try kalbeliya)...also, saroj ji pointed out what's not done to M-S choreo, something she found western...and even Y-G's choreo...

please don't feel bad 😊 , and thanks for sharing the correct facts with us 😊

Thanks for the info......tribal dances vary all over, and as they are not perfect dance forms, they are often mingled when presented to an outside audience. In fact there were quite a few steps of 'Bihu'(the hands on hips and moving in a line) and some of the naga triabl steps. Even in nagaland, different tribes have different dance forms and yet the difference is not much.

So it was not really fake. It was North East Indian dance, and it will be fair to say a combined representation of different dance forms prevailing in all the seven sisters state.

More importantly, they danced very well. It was a bollywood song they performed on. So as it is, presenting it in any one dance form belonging to any one tribe would have been difficult, unless they chose a song from that particular region and had someone to translate for them as well.

In fact it's actually nice that someone used this stage to use the art form of those vastly cultured North Eastern states.
