Why the Chicken Crossed the Road
An attempted analysis by Belle
This question has been plaguing the human race for over several years now. Chicken has become a part of our lives, all be it by eating them or tending them at the farm.
The famous question, "Why did the Chicken Cross the Road?" has been analyzed by great historians. Now, I am taking a shot at presenting my various hypotheses and predictions.
The chicken may have crossed the road to see if there was a pot of gold at the other side of the road. This is like the Rainbow analogy. If this hypothesized is dismissed, since we know that chickens aren't fond of gold or what not, we can assume that perhaps it was searching for a soul mate at the other side of the road. The chicken must have been bored at the side that it was on and hence took the initiative to actually find if another chicken was there.
Another hypotheses could be that perhaps the chicken was lost in the city. On a rainy day, maybe the truck's shutter broke loose and the poor chicken accidently fell down on the road. Unaware of its surroundings, it was scrambling all over the road, before knowing that it must cross the road.
Just like we assist the elderly or a small child to cross the road, perhaps the chicken must have seen an elderly person or a small child, and immediately went to cross the road to aid them.
In addition, perhaps this chicken was from the "other" world; you know, from a planet far far away... Perhaps this was a genius chicken who ACTUALLY knew how to cross the road by looking both ways of the road. Perhaps this chicken was teaching the elementary kids on how to cross the road SAFELY!
There are numerous hypotheses and "possible" solutions claimed by scientists, children, or bored people alike. However, we are not certain of the ultimate "ANSWER". So, why don't we ask this question to ourself? WHO THOUGHT OF THIS COMPLICATED AND A SILLY QUESTION IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Phew, I vented out my frustration. If you think you have a possible explanation on why the chicken crossed the road, then please share it with me.
One plaguing question: why is it always the chicken and never the HEN? It is from the same family right? Or why couldn't it be a domesticated animal or even a wild animal?
Also, why can't we ask this question to ourselves: WHY DIDN'T THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD?
To sum everything up, here were my possible answers to why the chicken crossed the road:
- To find a pot of Gold
- To find the "ultimate" soulmate
- To assist an elderly or a little child
- Was lost in the BIG bad city
That was the end to my analysis. Please excuse any grammatical mistakes. Some sentences may seem awkward.
