| Few know that Aparna is a champion badminton player.
So when her husband Amod enrolled himself for the Bombay Gymkhana badminton match this Sunday, Aparna (Dr Shalini of Left Right Left) knew she had to be there to support him.
An annual event, Amod has been playing the tournament for the last few years. "Both of us are badminton enthusiasts.
In fact, if we have to de-stress and relax, we hit the club for a gruelling session."
Passion play
Playing since her school days, the actress has also won a State-level doubles title. "As a kid, badminton was my favourite sport. Till date, I have won inter school and district level matches, but the biggest high was playing on the national level," she says. "It is physically exhausting, builds your stamina and also requires a lot of concentration."
Talking about Amod, she says, "He's very popular in the Gymkhana. In fact, a lot of betting goes on over whether his team will win the match or not!"
After attending his match on Sunday, Aparna says, "I went there as his cheerleader. Sadly, they lost the best of three matches. But still, watching him play was exciting."
Ladies man
Calling Amod a hit with the ladies, she says, "He gets a lot of cheering from the women at the club. It's funny watching all of them walk up to him and wish him good luck."
Besides LRL, Aparna has recently shot for the kids show Lucky on Star Plus. "I play the role of a witch.
The make-up would take hours to get done. However, I remember how scared I got when I saw myself in the mirror! They have truly made me look like one of the ugliest witches ever!"
The actress is also proud of her show getting multiple nominations at the Indian Television Awards.
"I hope we pick up all of them. It's really nice to see hard work being appreciated." |
