Only a Chaudhary...

She hasn't imbibed any of the qualities of either the Maliks or Kundras... she is her father's daughter in carrying that streak of borderline insanity.

With the recent development of Madhu's character, I am more and more convinced that she is neither steadfast nor consistent in her relationships. For her, each relationship that she forges is a project. She inherits her father's self-centeredness and attaches too much importance to herself. She does whatever she does only for herself. In her pursuit of her ideals, she is completely oblivious to feelings of the people involved. This streak of her started with Mukund's accident.

Fine, she was being a good samaritan, however, in the end the she successfully turned the whole saga into her personal battle with RK. She completely overlooked what Mukund's family wanted. She could bring herself to agree to marry Mukund (after leading him on, obviously) only because she felt she had a significant control over him. He did go against his mother's wishes to be with her, till a point. When he broke the engagement, she did not hurt for long. While, it can be argued that she never loved him, so it was easier her to get over it. However, given her upbringing, being engaged and planning a future with a guy should have been a little more significant. She has never been shown thinking about Mukund ever. With loss of her hold on Mukund, she could move on easily, without any sense of loss.

Next project was RK. She had the allusion of being in love with him because she took it upon herself to change RK for BETTER. Better here is what she thought was better for him. She never considered what his thoughts would be regarding the change. On the day when RK went on the bottle breaking spree, he did let out a clue about having a troubled past - saying something to the effect of his life being like the broken glass. But she never showed the sensitivity or perception to catch on to his emotions. Her change of heart happened when she saw an opportunity to establish her importance in his life. with the unwedding, I feel, what hurt her more than the betrayal was her failure to change the man. To top it all, RK led her into believing that she changed him, only to break her illusion. With loss of her hold on RK, she could move on easily.

One could argue, that she has not moved on. However, my question is that is it really possible to completely stop thinking about the person who was supposedly the center of your universe in just about two weeks (it has been around two weeks in MBverse since the unwedding)? For a woman who broke down crying how will she live, what will she do, isn't it a little too soon to be enthusiastically dancing in holi? Not a single thought of her ex-husband.

My feeling is that she is able to do all this, because she has a new project - actually two, which explain her speedy recovery - Project Aaryan and Project Sultan. She is again trying to establish her importance in their lives. As that is happening, she is looking more and more cheerful.

Since daily soaps cannot show a flawed female lead, CVs are adding more and more illogical angles to justify her actions... Maybe I will make a separate post on that...This post itself has turned out much longer than intended. Hope you liked it.
