comparison is again very common. Kids with comparatively reserved personality & less smartness get into shell & lose all confidence. I have seen a very close friend being the victim of same. Me & my other friend had to try so much to take her out of that fear. Still when we all moved on in our life, she lacks confidence & she is the most brilliant of us all but not in her family. her siblings are rankers & she ended up losing all her confidence over years of constant comparison. A very close friend of mine. 😔

i am pretty sure if this was Dev spreading rumors about ginny or any other girl and they humiliated him that way everybody would be cheering for ginny or any other girl...

Many things to be taken in consideration here. Age, gender, quantity, who were they and the lie.
Age, what is the age of Ginny? 14. Dev? 17. This is the first problem, you have to see this also... she is very young and he is matured enough to understand, is it right or wrong.
Gender, she is a girl. If Dev would have in her place, obviously it was not good at all. But he is boy. So he might not have felt that bad because what he did was wrong. Girls emotionaly are very weak they takes everything on their hearts very quickly, so doing this to girl is not fair.
Quantity, the amount of humiliation which she recieved is no joke. As above, she is just a kid and a girl, very weak, always remained in the shadow of her parents.
Another thing is they were her class fellows and you better be careful because in school aswell, she will going to get the same disrespect, people passing words from behind and many.
The lie which it was is very unusual, usualy you see boys stating that she is my GF and stuff... girls doing that is very rare and it happened so, Dev, as an elder to her, as a boy, in presence of her classfellows should not have done this to a GIRL!
On the other hand, Ginny may have done the same with Dev, but wouldn't have poured a cow-dung on him for sure.

dev is elder he has to b sensible..he could directly say her in front of all but what his friends do was taking advantage of a girl..it can be compared to molestation 😡
