Chapter Three – The Kind One
When my eyes opened, I could see under the bed directly in front of me. I noticed I was on the ground and quickly sat up. I leaned against the wall and looked at the white curtains across the room from me, then I looked towards the door to my right; it was closed. I put all my energy into getting up because I had been exhausted from everything that had happened to me. When I finally managed to stand, I walked towards the window. Since I didn't have a clock or watch, the only way I'd be able to tell the time was by looking outside. I felt my nerves act up for a moment but then I pulled the curtain away from the window. He didn't lie when he said his mansion was on top a hill, far from any civilization. All I could see was the dark sky with stars, the moon shining down on me, and the lights surrounding his mansion. I squinted and managed to see many guards surrounding the mansion. Then only one question popped into my mind. Who is he?
As I stared out the window, I heard a knock at my door. I quickly closed the curtain and sat on the edge of the bed, just in time before the door opened. I had guessed that it would've been RK, but I was wrong. A tall, handsome kind of guy walked into the room and he looked oddly similar to RK. He wore a V-neck t-shirt with an open black vest on top and dark jeans below. He had scruff just like RK but his face seemed more innocent. He had a big smile on his face, but not the evil kind that I had seen on RK's. That's when I figured he was RK's younger brother. I remembered back to his name being called, Aditya. He walked towards me with a gentle smile and then sat down beside me on the bed, and for some reason, I didn't feel nervous being so near him. He let off a good vibe in a way. Then he spoke with a gentle yet deep voice.
"Hey, I'm Aditya! I helped bro kidnap you."
My eyes instantly shot in his direction. We locked eyes for a moment as I wondered how he could be so happy having helped someone kidnap a person.
"Hey, cheer up Madh…kay I'm going to be completely honest when I say I don't like your name one bit. So from now on, you're Madhy. And you can call me Adi! Got it?"
I didn't respond to his question. I looked away and back towards the ground.
"Anyways, cheer up! We took you from that orphanage and brought you here! To a mansion! Bro doesn't mean any harm, at least not yet."
I felt myself shiver at his words. I didn't even want to think about what he meant by not yet. I remained silent and kept my eyes to the ground as he attempted to engage in a conversation with me.
"So, tell me about yourself! Bro says he knows everything but he doesn't tell me much."
I remained unresponsive and sat still as a statue.
"Madhy? Can I say something? I'm sorry we did this to you, but bro said we had to."
He was making it clear that he hadn't wanted to do this but only his bro did. I didn't want to believe him at all.
"I don't know why, so don't ask me why. I just played along with his plan. Anyways, how's your nose?"
I had completely forgotten that my nose had been aching, but when he mentioned it, I suddenly felt a terrible pain on my nose, a burning sensation. My hands instantly shot up to my nose as I grimaced in pain. I saw his hand lift slightly off his leg but he placed it back down.
"Sorry! Is it okay? Do you need ice? Water? Are you hungry? Should I call Neha?"
I shook my head no, hoping he'd understand that my answer was to every question he asked.
"You sure?"
I nodded my head up and down, waiting for him to leave.
"Are you getting sick of me? Be honest, I'm used to hearing yes."
He let out a soft laugh as I placed my hand down and interlocked my fingers in my lap. I wanted to smile but I stopped myself. Smiling didn't seem right anymore. I quickly nodded my head up and down to answer his question and I heard his croaky laugh again. I turned my head to the left to hide my smile from him, which I couldn't help but let cross my face. That's when I noticed a mirror directly in front of me. My eyes widened when I saw him smiling behind me as he stared directly at me through the mirror. I quickly stood and looked towards my hands as I played with them nervously. I could feel his eyes on me and I felt slightly uncomfortable. That's when I decided I had to speak.
"Please leave."
"And she speaks! I actually came to ask if you like western or Indian clothing? But based on your dress up…"
"Indian."
I knew I wore a summer dress, but that wasn't my usual style. I only ever wore Indian, it just so happened that the one day I wore western clothing, I got kidnapped.
"Oh? Indian? Bummer."
I heard him get off the bed behind me and then my eyes shot in his direction as he walked towards the door. His head slowly turned in my direction and he wore the same sincere smile he had worn when he walked into my room.
"I forgot to say…you have a beautiful smile."
And with that he walked out of my room as he ran his hand through his hair. I couldn't help but let my cheeks flush rosy red as I blushed. The heat, which took place beneath my skin on my face, felt wrong because I had been kidnapped just hours earlier. I placed my hands on either side of my face and sat back down on the bed as I cursed myself for letting him make me blush.
