Actor Mohit Malhotra, who shot to fame with his stint in the reality show 'Splitsvilla', but the actor says he got recognition in the television industry with 'Bade Achhe Laggte Hain'. "Bade Achhe... was a turning point in my life," says Mohit, who played the role of Kartik in the serial, adding, "It gave me the recognition that I had been looking for all this while."
The serial gave Mohit what he wanted but only for a very short while. "I was looking for a lead kind of role and initially I was told that my track in Bade Achhe... will be quite prominent. But it didn't go as planned and I didn't have much to do as the show was all about Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanvar. I had to quit the show finally!" rues Mohit.
But Mohit is happy to have bagged another serial under Ekta Kapoor's banner. "I had a talk with Ekta and she agreed and soon offered me another serial, Kya Hua Tera Vaada. It's been an amicable relationship with her," he says.
It's a man's world
Ask Mohit, if playing the lead in a serial like Kya Hua..., which is a women-dominated show, is another risk in his career and he shoots back saying, "TV is not at all women-dominated now. And the foremost example of this change are actors like Ram Kapoor, Gurmeet Singh and Ronit Roy. These men are ruling the telly world. So you see, even men have work on TV and there is a financial stability in their lives."
