Oh wow! Wasn't expecting such a healthy response for this post (: I'd love to reply each and every one of you individually, but since I'm a newbie, I gather that I don't get to make all that many posts in a day. So I'll just reply all of you here (:
So firstly, talking about how old my mom is, well my eldest sister is nearing 30, so yeah she is quite old. She likes George Clooney and Rishi Kapoor, so I think it's just that she's not very into the younger generation now, which is why she isn't very taken in by KSG I guess. It's not personal anyway, I used to watch IPKKND with my mom as well, and she didn't like Barun either, kept cribbing about his acting as well. I mean it's her opinion, so yeah. I think she just doesn't get why both of their characters are so broody and cranky, she thinks it's probably humanly impossible to be so serious all the time. I personally feel that even though it may not be normal, it's what the character demands, and both KSG and Barun have portrayed it wonderfully. For people who are so fun-loving in real life, I think it takes a lot of effort to remain unsmiling for such long periods of time on sets, so hats off (:
Zoya is really a character that most young girls can relate to, she has many similar characteristics to all of us here I think (: But not only us, people like my mom, who has only daughters, relates to Zoya as well, because she sometimes feels that Zoya reminds her of me and my sisters. Sometimes she even tells me after some Zoya scene that "Oh! You behave exactly like that too you know!" So I think that adds on to why she likes Zoya so much.
As for romantic scenes, I think Surbhi is doing a fine job. Like I said, the pulling factor for Zoya is the fact that she's so normal. And in reality, nobody starts breathing heavily and get all super shy just from one touch on like your face from your boyfriend or whatever. It isn't normal. Surbhi behaves in a very normal way during romantic scenes, you can see that Zoya is taken in by Asad, but she doesn't start overacting like she's having trouble breathing. You can feel the magnetism between them without all that extra overacting. Zoya is shown as shy, yet confident in these kind of scenes, which is something I really admire. Also, I really feel that they're trying to show that Asad is more in love with Zoya than Zoya is with Asad. That's why Zoya always looks so unsure. She isn't unaffected for sure, but she just hasn't fallen as deeply in love with Asad as he has with her. That's just my personal opinion anyway.
Frankly, no one in my family knew KSG before this. We don't live in India, Star One didn't show here and so none of us have watched DMG. I don't deny that a lot of people here might have started watching QH for KSG, but it definitely isn't the case in my household. We started watching it for the whole package, not just KSG.
But all said and done, this is only a daily soap. Sometimes the actors aren't able to give their all to shoot a perfect scene, simply because the whole shooting is running against time in order to churn out those awesome 20 mins for us to watch everyday. Given the circumstances, I think QH is doing wonderfully on all accounts, in terms of acting and storyline. And I hope it continues this way!! (:
