After a short hiatus of over 3 months, we get to see Sanaya back on screen as the main lead of Chanchan. the first week didn't meet my expectations. But still the magic of Sanaya and the promise of Supriyaji keeps me glued. here are a few pointers after week one.
What worked for me-
Sanaya, looks effortless even in some of the OTT scenes. She is playful, graceful and stands her ground against a seasoned performed like Supriyaji.
Her family clicked with me, especially her mother who carries herself with elan and class.
Supriyaji although was a little off in Episode one, came back strongly in the remaining episodes. I wish there were more shades to her character.
What didn't work for me-
The comedy- The comedy seems forced. I wish it was subtle and flowed with the story.
The hurried nature of story telling in week one. The PH should have just used a couple of episodes to show Chanchan and Umaben's family, instead of rushing it through to the wedding and their first few confrontations
The lines of the show are very mediocre and there are very few which stand out. the dialogues have to be more crisp and impactful.
The background music is terrible and in urgent need of overhaul
Sanaya's make-up is too loud. She is a naturally stunning woman and doesn't need the layers of make-up she currently has.
What I want to see next week?
I want them to focus on developing Chanchan's character- like what drives her, what are her mannerisms, how does she gel with her family.
I would especially love to see Chanchan's interactions with her mother and Daadi
More shades of Umaben's character.
And for the love of God, get more of Puchpuch on screen
What I don't want to see?
Is another regular saas-bahu fare. I want Chanchan to continue standing her ground against Umaben.
Verdict of the week-
A lot of progress still needs to be made, but Sanaya has me hooked, for at least a little while.
(I will write about Farhan next week.)
