I seem to be one of the few who actually liked the show from the first scene. I loved Dadi's dream and her so natural concern for her unmarried granddaughter.
Family interaction was great and I love the concept of this modern family. I liked the natural way in which CC was introduced in her own environment...I hate those long long teaser intro's when we already know who the person is. The friends were OK but I liked their interactions and the bond that was portrayed. Some of the humor was forced and some was good.
OK, I am the only person in the entire viewing audience who didn't notice Sanaya's excess make up, probably because I wasn't wearing my glasses so to me Sanaya looked as beautiful as ever and I'm gonna keep it that way😃
Sanaya Irani and Supriya Pathak...what a casting coup...these two are going to be formidable adversaries and I envision watching episodes hiding behind cushions. The mandir scene was fantastic and I loved the fact that our FL had a little hissy fit and really didn't want to go to the temple as a favor from UB and sure as hell didn't want to thank her for the privilege. Most FL's would have been touching the feet of UB.
The marriage and dowry track should probably have happened next week but I guess that was aimed at the TRP audience and that is where the PH is going to have to find middle ground. I'm sure they are aware of the type of fans Sanaya has and as she is their main draw I think they know that they will have to cater to us as well as the general audiences...will be interesting to see if they can strike an acceptable balance.
Farhan is improving with every scene...it must be overwhelming to be standing in front of Supriya Pathak and giving a shot. I'm liking Manav...finally a dikra who can wrap mamma around his little finger and that adorable smile doesn't hurt either😊
At the moment the only reason to watch with my current enthusiam is Sanaya and Supriyaji, without them I'd probably watch depending on current storylines they way I do with some other saas-bahu dramas.
Overall the 4 days were jam packed and there was a sense of rushing through but if they had slowed things down there would have been people saying that nothing happened.
Overall I like the look of the show from physical appearance to content and am hoping that it will prove to be different but that might take some time. in fact even Sanaya said that at least give the show a week to get started...so let's see what next week has in store.
Oop forgot to mention PuchPuch...definitely need more PuchPuch screen time but the groomer needs to be on hand to maintain the grooming for this adorable little fluff ball. OK my one gripe with the show...PP looks like a shitzu and shitzu's have hair not fur and so do not generally induce allergies...in fact it's one of the breeds recommended for people with animal allergies.

Nice review for the past week. For future development of the story am expecting a clashing chemistry between Chanchan & Umaben. If some time is given to male lead he will be better.

Very balanced review, NB ...

I agree with you on most of your points -
What worked for you ... same here 😛
What you want to see next week ... agree again 😊
What you don't want to see - another regular saas bahu fare ... absolutely ... though I'm pretty sure it won't be that, don't think Sanaya or Supriya-ji would have taken it up if so ... plus this PH doesn't do such stuff, and they have been in the business a very long time ...
and Verdict ... I am going to give this at least a month ... probably more. If I could sit through the massacre of Sanaya's last character, I can sit through a lot. And this is Sanaya's first author-backed role ... I do have faith that she would have chosen well.

What didn't work ... again agree with most of your points ... the subtle comedy is there, Uma ben gifting her bahus coins for NOT being Chhanchhan was hilarious ... hope it comes more to the forefront now. And this was one scene which actually reminded me of the movie Khubsoorat, on which this is supposedly (but not quite 😛) based ... though Khubsoorat did not have that humor there.
I think the male lead has to improve a lot ... since this is his first show, am willing to give him some time, but he is currently out of synch with such a good cast. Also his characterization has to be sorted ... it was going okay, showing the contrast between his mom's and his thinking ... but in his scene with Uma ben, his reactions to the marriage breaking were very silly! Or he didn't act well ... or a combination ...

kripa may be i am looking at this show in different angle. i have seen this ph saas bin sasural hence know there will always be comedy angle and light heart

ofcourse i am seeing this for sanaya and supriyaji
chanman romance, pooch pooch, uma ben and her son scenes all are extra.

yes i thought uma ben came out very strongly in first scene the temple one , but it did make the point right she is on more greyish aww i always like the simple and non greyish ones hence i need a lot of balancing of her grey with white towards her son 😳 which i saw later

about farhan poor guy is stuck with supriyaji and sanaya both awesome in acting , dialogue delivery , hope the guy wont be intimiadated , sanaz is famous for helping her co-star lets see where it goes .

@jaya loved reading your post

@princess you want pooch pooch ofcourse i love him

Excellent review NB!

I totally agree word for word.
Looking at the first week, I'm not sure whether I'd have watched this show if not for Sanaya and Supriya, cause it seems too focused on the saas bahu element. Plus, the first week of any show needs to be the most engaging but unfortunately it didn't really hook me as a viewer cause everything was pretty rushed and haphazard. The episodes in the later half of the week were better than the first and second episodes though.

I totally agree with the fact that they should've spent more time introducing the families rather than rushing to the wedding straight away. Sanaya's make up should've been like in the promos but looking at how Uma ben's bahus were dressed up yesterday, Sanaya's look is wayyy better. 😆

They definitely need to work on the comedy as well cause I didn't see any except for the weird bg music...

Hello NB! Good post. I watched the first two episodes and then gave up. I agree with you on all the points. I would also like to rant some more.

I personally didn't like Sanaya's costumes. Sanaya looks beautiful in modern chic dresses. But the clothes she is being made to wear are not doing doing justice to her beauty. They don't appeal to me much.

Secondly, the dubbed voices of CC's friends is jarring and doesn't fit well. Perhaps editing could fix it, not sure about technical aspects but that certainly needs to be fixed asap.

You have already touched upon the loud, forced OTT comedy which is more along the lines of "haha, very funny" . I also think the PH went overboard in depicting a modern family. It just doesn't look convincing enough to me. Perhaps the actors could pull up their socks a wee bit more.

The flow is missing, not just in the comic scenes but overall. I found that there were incidents deliberately added to bring forth a certain issue. The introduction of the family or of the friends, or for that matter UB's. The sequence are rushed as you have poignantly pointed out.

I find nothing wrong with Sanaya's acting. She is doing full justice to the script and to her role in the given circumstances. I find no fault with her.

The new guy is stiff and awkward, perhaps with time he would improve. Can't say much about him in such a short time.

The show lacks the polish of SP/ Colors shows. The sets were also a big let down. It looked very artificial to me. The warmth was missing be it CC's house or the palatial ceremony house where the wedding was taking place.

The look of the show is very ordinary. Perhaps I am to be blamed because my senses are accustomed to watch polished tip-top shows as we get on SP/ Colors. Zee again lacks it but lets not discuss it here as it is quite irrelevant.
