MUMBAI: Sony's second Hindi entertainment channel Sab is launching its first reality based show Fame X from 24 November. Sab has roped in MTV to be a part of the Jury of Fame X. The music channel will use its expertise to test and determine the "X factor" among the contestants. Fame X is the second season of Fame Gurukul and will air every Monday to Thursday at 9 pm and on Friday at 10 pm. Based on a spanish reality show Operacion Triunfo (an Endemol-owned format), Fame X is a daily reality series that has 14 singers vying for a place at the Fame Academy. Palash Sen is the dean of the Fame Academy and MTV VJ Sophie Choudry will play the role of Fame Kudi. Daler Mehndi and the Indian pop act Ganesh Hegde will be seen in the seat of a judge. Commenting on the launch, Sab senior VP and business head Vikas Bahl said, "We are glad to announce the launch of our first reality show and also welcome MTV India as the part of Jury. MTV as a brand personifies the X quotient in terms of its unpredictability, popularity with the youth and the Style quotient." Speaking of MTV's association with Fame X, MTV Networks India vice president marketing Aditya Swamy said, "As a brand that understands, reflects and leads the youth brigade, MTV is glad to be associated with Sab to help find that unpredictably cool quotient in Fame X contestants." The 14 finalists will live together at the Fame Academy where their talent is tested by industry experts, who train them vocally and musically. They get to meet and perform alongside some of the music industry's stars who also mentor the contestants. Meanwhile cameras follow the students' every move, 24/7. Each week will showcase individual contestants perform live and the judges will decide their fate. Further their fate would depend on the audience votes. The fellow aspirants too get a chance to vote on which one amongst the final two should remain in the academy and which one should leave, leading to a greater, behind-the-scenes drama, as the contestant could go back to live at the academy with some of his fellow contestants who have voted him out. http://www.indiantelevision.com/headlines/y2k6/nov/nov142.ht m |
