Chapter#13

Arnav couldn't sleep all night; he couldn't stop thinking of her. He had had enough he thought. He needed to tell her how he felt about her, how he couldn't stop staring at her, her beautiful face, her eyes, specially her eyes!

Arnav got up from the bed and started walking back and forth.

"Should I call her?" His said to himself.

"No!" His brain yelled. "Arnav Singh Raizada never calls anybody." His ego spoke up.

"Come on Arnav, you've waited all these years, in hope that you'll find your Khushi again and you'd tell her how you felt, how you've been feeling since you met her at school, you made a promise." His heart said.

*Flash-back*

A small 9 year old girl standing in the corner of the corridor, looking here and there... It was Khushi; her father had been transferred to Lucknow, so Khushi had a new school. She loved a new place, a new school, all new people, and new friends. But this was a huge school; she couldn't find her way to her class.

"Excuse me, ma'am?" Khushi's little voice spoke up.

"Just a minute child." The teacher said in a hurry and left.

Khushi was left disappointed and alone once again.

A young 11 year old boy was looking at this scene. He felt sorry and he came up to her.

"I can help you." A young Arnav said.

"Huh? Umm... yes please. I'd be thankful." Khushi said.

"Which class are you in and what section? I'll lead you there." Arnav said with a smile.

"Umm... it's 4-Doves. I can't find it." Khushi said.

"Oh you're in my section. That's good. Come on now, it's upstairs." Arnav said.

Khushi and Arnav started walking together, her bag which was filled with all new books and copies seemed heavy for such a little and weak girl. Arnav saw her difficulty and took off her bag off her shoulder.

"What are you doing?" An innocent Khushi asked.

"It's so heavy and I know you can't take it upstairs." Arnav said holding the bag in his hands.

"No, I am a grown up I can take it." Khushi said raising her head up.

"Oh well, you can prove that later." Arnav said that with a smile.

*Flash back ends*

"Go tell her!" His heart yelled.

"At this hour?" Arnav thought.

"Its 11.30 pm you idiot, GO!" His heart yelled at him.

Arnav grabbed his car keys and left off to Khushi's house. He was going to tell her the way he feels, god he doesn't know how to do that but he'll just say what comes up in his mouth.

He reached Khushi house, he quietly parked his car and without seeking any attention he went and stood below her room window.Things I have to do for her. He climbed up through the railing. He saw Khushi sleeping...

"Shit..." He whispered.

He went up to her and saw her sleeping peacefully. What an innocent angelic face she had. He thought to himself. He tucked the strand of hair that was falling on her face behind her ear. She moved a little, Arnav moved his hand away. A few minutes more he sat there and looked at her just so that he can have a peace in his mind and sleep.

He let out a sigh and got up.

He settled the quilt over her when he felt something hard under the pillow. He slowly slide the thing out, it was a dairy. It was nicely wrapped in a blood-red cloth and a few wheels made out of strings were glued as a decoration. And a translucent ribbon was wrapped in order to keep it safe and locked. The lock and the keys were on the side table. He was about to keep it on the table when a note slipped out. He bent down to pick it up...he looked at it, it was a baby pink coloured paper which said "I think I have fallen for him."

Arnav saw this and his eyes widened. Did she like him? Or did she like somebody else? But the written date and time tells it's old and not recently written. Curiosity grew in Arnav. He silently skipped to the pool-side of her room and opened it up...

On the first page there were loads of pictures. Her mother's pictures and a little note-

'I know I missed behaved at times but I really didn't mean it. I never thought you'd go away from me. Forever. I want you back mom. God does miracles why not now, I want you back mom. Life's so difficult to manage.'

He saw fresh tears which had dried up which could tell she was awake a moment ago. Arnav felt sadness rush inside his heart. He looked at Khushi, who was sleeping and turned the page. The first 4 pages were about four people who she loved a lot. He turned the page and saw lots of pictures of her father and a little paragraph for him as well. He turned the page again and saw a hundred pictures of her and Payal together. Her paragraph was the biggest till now. He laughed as he read the whole thing saying... 'Pagal' in the end. The 4th page, he turned and was shocked at what he saw.

There were pictures of him! They were few pictures of him he had never seen. His paragraph was of a page. So many feelings rushed through him! The paragraph started like..

'Umm...Where do I start from? I'll just give a brief summary. It was my first day of school when he helped me find my class, turned out he was in my class. I still remember how we kind of became friends. He helped me in everything. I started falling for him...'

Arnav's breath hitched.

'...We became really good friends; Grade 6 was the time when things got weird. I accidentally spilled out to Maya that I like him. She betrayed me and told her best-friends. Some how people started to irritate me by this and he started ignoring me. Grade 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 were kind of good but really bad at times. I've spent years in thinking of him that one day, maybe one day he'll fall in love with me and we'll be married. I came here to India just a week ago and things are not so bad with him. Didn't expect to see him... I can write pages on him and on the days in school. I...'

What? No! Please no! Is that it? Arnav thought. It can't be this much, I need more to read. He said to himself.

Khushi wasn't sleeping at all after the whole best-friend thing happened so she thought to scribble something on her dairy.

The first four pages had been empty since a few years. She herself hadn't know why she left them but now she knew why. She sat down and started writing about the four people who meant the world to her.
