Chapter#14

Khushi's Diary Entries -

1st August 2005, 12:45 am Sunday.

Tomorrow is the first day of school; I can't wait to see him. I hope we are still in the same section. *Fingers crossed* A friend told me about something called facebook, I made an account. I also found him in someone's mutual friends. I was scared to add him, what if he doesn't add me? But I'll take a chance...

Mom took me to get my stationery. Boring day! Let's see what happens tomorrow.

2nd August 2005, 4:05 pm Monday.

Yes, he is in my section. He smiled at me today, and also exchanged a pen from me. He took mine and I took his.

Arnav looked at the pen which was taped to the dairy with a sticky tape. He touched and remembered the day this happened. "She still remembers." He whispered with a slight smile.

5th January 2005, 1:30 pm Friday.

Oh god why did I tell Maya that I liked Arnav. Everything is ruined. Everything. I feel like crying. I wish I would have a time machine and stop my self from telling her. Agghh...this is so frustrating. God help me. She told her best-friends and one of her best-friend is Arnav's best-friend's cousin. Ritesh. Now I know how mom told me not to trust people so easily. It is a cruel world; nobody lets you survive in peace. I'm going to sleep, can't take this anymore. I need somebody who I can talk to.

8th January 2005, 6:30 pm Monday.

He did not even look at me once, not once. It's all because of Maya. I ain't talking to her. Everybody was annoying me like 'Ooo she likes Arnav.' 'Arnav & Khushi sitting in a tree K.I.S.S.I.N.G.' I don't want to live in this world anymore. He ignored me!

Only one good thing happened to me today, I made a new friend, Payal! She is a very nice person. I could tell. Although 11 years old but yeah... She is coming over this weekend. I hope she doesn't betray me like others but I think I can trust her.

21st January 2007, 8:30 Thursday.

Today was our Annual Day. I was in a German dance with all the girls. We were wearing long red and black gowns with out hair curled up. I was wearing slight makeup. I saw him looking at me and he smiled. I smiled back. Payal warned me not to smile because in her logic if you ignore a guy he'll get pissed if he likes you back. But I can't hold my self back. I just can't! He kept staring at me through out the whole event. Payal kept telling me when he looked at me.

When I came back home, I went through my camera. I don't how and when someone took his pictures. Seriously, I have no clue. Well I edited them and made them a little better. I inboxed him on facebook that I have a picture of yours, do you want it? I didn't give him all of his pictures. I had to keep them with me. Lol. Just a memory. He replied that instance, although his status was offline. He asked me send them to him. I sent them and he said you're not a bad photographer. With a wink. I was getting butterflies in my stomach because of this online chat. I complimented him that he acted really well in the play. He thanked me and said that he wasn't able to see my dance but what he saw was that I looked beautiful. For 2 straight minutes I kept staring at the sentence. I thanked him and he said that his head hurts so he has to go. We said our goodbyes and I logged off. Hell of a day with unexpected surprises.

8th December 2009, 3:00 pm Tuesday.

Just came from school. I have a felling Arnav likes Lavanya and they are secretly dating. WHY? I don't know what is wrong with him. I'm not going to talk to him AT ALL. Bitch mode on. But... I love him, I don't know if he likes me back. Even if he does what can I do? I don't want to date anybody. A girl in grade 8th would date somebody? I don't think so.

He keeps giving me wrong signs. Like whenever I look at him he already is looking at me. And when I look, he looks away. And this had been happening since grade 6. It's annoying me now. Yesterday I and Payal were attending our Accounts class. He and Akash came sat behind us. When Sir turned towards the board they borrowed the whitener from me. I gave it, obviously. I could feel something is fishy.. They started writing on the back of my chair. Afterwards when the class ended I and Payal were curious to know what is that they wrote. Both of us went and we were shocked. Behind my chair they had written 'this person will marry the person behind' and a kissy face at the end. I was happy, it wasn't a big deal but for me it was. I don't know if it was for real, or he meant it. We took a picture and I glued it in my diary. Just to save it as a memory.

Arnav was having continuous flash-backs of each and every little moment they'd had. He looked at the picture and touched it. He remembered how he had meant it. He turned the page...curious to read more.

25th April 2009, 9:33 pm Wednesday.

Eee... He liked my profile picture. Does he get mood swings or what? He be's nice to me for a day and the other day he ignores me like he doesn't know me. Weird! But this was a nice start of the day.

10th June 2010, 10:31pm Sunday.

My finals are finally over. May God save me from my exams. But I did well every time, I think I'm spoiling a bit. I've been using internet a lot and watching Salman Khan's movies. I am going to stop and concentrate in my vacations as well. Arnav said Bye to me today before leaving. Maya is good friends with him now. I hate her. I know she's doing this on purpose. What evil have I done to her that she's being like this? Maya and I are just nice friends but I don't like her because of this Arnav thing. She told me how she and other friends started asking him that why doesn't he go out with me. This happened when I was gone. I don't like my life.

27th February 2010, 3:14 pm Sunday.

It's my birthday. I'm turning 14. I hate it how my birthday came on a weekend. I don't like it. It has been a boring day till now. Mom forced me to get ready. He didn't even wish me on facebook. He as in Arnav. None of my best-friends did, not even Payal. I feel really low.. But my mom and dad both gave me the best gifts, they always do. My mom helped me decorate my secret dairy today; it had been quite worn out so she made it cover in red and some simple decoration on it. They gave me an I-pod as well; mom got me new clothes and a pair of shoes. I love them. I wish we would always stay like this, a happy family! Mom made me wear the new purple shirt she bought me. It's a puffy shirt with black skinny jeans. I made my hair into a French braid, also did some nail art with black and purple nail-polish. I love nail art.

Arnav had a flash back of how Khushi used to do a lot of nail-art. Every day something new would be on her nails. He once suggested that she should open up a shop where she could do nail-art to other people and gain money. Khushi just laughed. He used to notice her hands a lot. As for his logic the girl who had pretty feet and hands is a perfect wife. So he noticed everyday.

27th February 2010, 9:05 pm Sunday.

I can't believe it! I got a birthday surprise for the first time. From my friends. Eee... No wonder my mom forced me to get ready! Around 4 o'clock the bell rang. I was bored so I went to open the door. I was going though my new I-pod so didn't bother to look up. And there I hear a SURPRISE... I looked up and I see Payal, Lavanya, Maya (I don't know why she was here) Aarav, Dhruv, Nk, Akash and...Arnav. Yes he was here too. I couldn't believe me eyes. I was like Oh my god. You guys? What are you doing here? And Nk answers me saying 'To rob your house.' I laugh, I run to the main gate to open it. Payal hugged me till I was short of air; Lavanya and Maya also hugged me. And the guys shook hands with me. While bringing them in I saw my mom standing on the terrace smiling and looking at me. I felt like hugging her. She was sick but she and dad had done so much. I felt like crying.

Anyway... I don't want to spoil this happiness. I made them sit in the living area. All of them kept looking around the house as if they had seen like it before. I asked them what happened. They were amazed to see my house. I told them how my mother is an interior designer. We cut the cake and ate. I still couldn't believe all of them were here, at my house, especially Arnav. My mom asked me to take them up to my room. We went upstairs and sat down. Nk kept annoying me about how I'm not girly as my room was sea-green not pink or purple. I don't know if what I felt was real but I felt how Arnav was being jealous. I'm not sure but yeah...

Arnav remembered how Khushi's room wasn't girly at all... It has sea-green curtains, and one of the walls was sea-green. He remembered that her bed was filled with fairy lights and the curtains as well. Her dress-table had golden and pink fairy-lights. It seemed like you've entered another dimension. It had wooden floor and a star shaped rug in the middle. One of the wall was covered with pictures of her family and her friends. She was as creative as her mother.

...Well it was time for opening the gifts. Payal gave lots of gifts. She gave a t-shirt, a picture frame in which there were loads of pictures of me and Payal. She also gave me lots of bracelets. She knows how I love bracelets. Lavanya and Maya both gave me nail-polishes. And a nail-art kit. It was nice of them. Akash, Nk, Aarav, Dhruv gave me chocolates. My fridge is full of chocolates. If I would be locked in my room, I could survive for months with these chocolates. We had fun lots of fun. They had dinner and just left. But wait for it.. the best part. Because of which I'm on the 9th sky at the moment. He gave me a chain.

Flash-back

Arnav had bought a chain for Khushi. He couldn't gift it to her in front of everybody else. He knew how happy she was, he didn't want her to feel annoyed, and so he decided to wait till the end. After dinner they decided to leave. He sat in his car and waited for the others to go. He asked his driver to wait and he'll be back in a minute. He saw Khushi closing the gate, incompletely. He entered and before she could leave he grabbed her wrist. Khushi was about to scream out of shock but Arnav placed a hand on her mouth.

"Shhh...It's me." Arnav said.

"Arnav?" Khushi said shockingly, with wide eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Khushi asked curiously.

"I forgot something." Arnav whispered.

He was still holding her by waist now.

"Oh...is it your mobile? Lets go check inside..." Khushi was about to leave when Arnav pulled her back to where she was before.

"No, I forgot to give you something." Arnav whispered again.

"What? You forgot to give me something?" Khushi said even more shocked than before.

"Yes..." He whispered and took a small blue box out of his pocket.

Khushi eyes followed. He opened it up and it was a silver chain. It has no pendant but it was a simple chain. He held it in mid air and showed it to her.

"This is what I forgot." Arnav said. Khushi kept looking at him and then at the chain. He put the chain around her neck; he secured it with the hook.

"Happy Birthday Khushi." Arnav whispered with a slight smile.

Saying this he left, leaving a stunned Khushi behind. Khushi looked as his car went away. Khushi looked at the chain she touched it and smiled.

Arnav read through the whole dairy. He was sure, he was happy that she loved him back. He closed the dairy. It was enough proof for him. Arnav went up to Khushi's bed she was still sleeping peacefully. He placed the dairy back to where it was. Arnav bent down and placed a kiss on Khushi's cheek.

He decided that tomorrow night he'll confess to her, no matter what! But he had to inform Payal too.
