Lord Shiva is the Founder of the Rudra sampradaya in Vaishnavism

In Hinduism, the Rudra Sampradaya is one of four Vaishnava sampradayas, a tradition of disciplic succession in the religion. Vaishnavism is distinguished from other schools of Hinduism by its primary worship of deities Vishnu and/or Krishna and their Avatars as the Supreme forms of God. The ascetic Vishnuswami formed the Rudra-Sampradaya,[1][2] though the sampradaya is believed to have traced its origins to the Hindu deity Shiva, also known as Rudra, who passed on the knowledge imparted to him by Vishnu (or Krishna), on mankind. According to Vaishnavism, Shiva, who has the Shaivism school dedicated to his worship as the Supreme God, is the first and foremost Vaishnava, or follower of Vishnu. According to the tradition, Vishnuswami was fifthteenth in the line of passing of the knowledge from teacher to student. The date of formation of the sampradaya is disputed. While James Hastings dates Vishnuswami to the early 15th century,[3] and Carl Olson dates him to the 13th century, followers of the sampradaya says that Vishnuswami was born 4500 years earlier.[4] Not much about the historical Vishnuswami is known and all his works are thought to have been lost in time. The earliest converts were from Gujarat in western India. The beliefs of the sampradaya was further propagated by Vallabha Acharya (1479–1531).

Rudra sampradaya has two main divisions: Vishnuswamis, that is, followers of Vishnuswami and the Vallabhas or Pushtimarg sect, founded by Vallabha. According to William Deadwyler, the sampradaya has disappeared, except for the Pushtimarg group. Today these people still exist as they follow the ShriNataji in Nadawar.

The philosophy of the sampradaya is Shuddhadvaita, or pure monism.

In the sampradaya which Lord Shiva started, Lord Narayan prefers that his devotees also respect Lord Shiva the same way they respect him.

Narada Muni went to meditate in a special grove which Shiva had blessed. And Shiva said, "This Tapovan, is this forest for tapasya, I am giving a special blessing, no one will be able to disturb a meditating Muni who sits in this Tapovan. Well, Narada sat in the Tapovan unknowingly and started to meditate. Indra became concerned, "Why is Narada meditating so strongly? I'm sending Agni, Varuna and Vayu down to disturb him."

Agni, Vayu and Varuna went down and Varuna made it rain, and Narada didn't respond. Vayu made the wind blow, and Narada did not respond. Agni lit the place on fire, Narada sat still in perfect stillness in meditation. All three of them went back to heaven and they said, "Indra, we can't disturb his meditation, he's meditating so strongly we don't know how to stop him from meditating."

Then Indra called Kamadeva, the God of Love, and said, "Kamadeva, you go down and break his meditation. Take Rathi, take the Apsaras with you, the celestial nymphs, the dancing girls, do whatever you have to do, make him stop meditating."

Kamadeva went down and tried everything within his power. And he had all his girls, they were dancing and they were making spring sprung and the bees were buzzing and the birds were humming, and it was the atmosphere of Love and Narada didn't stir one bit. Kamadeva admitted defeat. The God of Love went back to Indra and said, "I can't break his meditation."

At that, Narada woke up and said, "I have defeated all the Gods, I have even defeated the God of Love, I am beyond lust." And he was so happy, and he went to Shiva in Kailash and Shiva said, "Narada, your shining radiantly why are you so happy today?" And Narada said, "Shiva, I defeated Kamadeva, he couldn't break my meditation, I have conquered the God of Love."

And Shiva said, "Narada, that's very interesting, but if you have an experience like that don't ever tell Vishnu." Narada said, "Why wouldn't I want to tell Vishnu, I mean I'm always saying Narayana, Narayana, he'll be so happy to hear the news." And Shiva said, "Well, you do as you like, but I suggest don't tell Vishnu."

And Narada took his leave from Shiva and he went right to Vaikuntha and he said, "Vishnu, I've just come from the greatest meditation." And Vishnu smiled and said, "Really, you look radiant like you've achieved a tremendous victory. What kind of meditation did you have?" And Narada said, "I defeated the God of Love. I am free from Love, I am free from lust and desire." And Vishnu said, "Oh, that's fine, that's very nice, wonderful, I applaud your attainment."

Narada went off, and he was so full of happiness and joy and self-conceit that it was his power that allowed him to sit there and meditate without any disturbance. And it wasn't because Shiva had blessed that grove, it was because of Narada's attainment. And as Narada was traveling, he looked out and he saw this beautiful young princess dancing near the garden. And he looked down and he said, "Wow, there's a beautiful young princess, I'm going to go see who she is."

So he went down to the garden and he saw that it was the daughter of the King Shilanidhi. And he went in to see the king and the king said, "Oh, Narada Muni has come, please, my daughter is just about to choose her husband, please look at her palm and tell us what kind of husband she should choose. What will be her fate?"

He called the daughter, he said, "Please, sit here next to Narada Muni." And Narad Muni looked at the palm of this princess and her name was Vishwamohini. And he took the hand of Vishwamohini and he looked in that palm and he saw that whoever marries this lady is going to be the king of the three worlds, he's going to live as the Gods live. And suddenly Narada thought, "Well, I should marry this girl". And he said, "Well, everything looks wonderful in her hand and she's going to find the most beautiful, the most handsome prince, and they're going to marry and be very happy."

And Narada went straight to Vaikuntha and he said, "Vishnu, you got to do something for me, I have a favor for you, I want you to turn me into the most handsome prince and deck me out with many ornaments, and gold, and finery and silks and satins and make me as beautiful and as desirable as possible." And Vishnu said, "Narada, why, I thought you had just conquered the God of Love." And Narada said, "Oh, yes, I did conquer the God of Love but now I'm thinking that I should marry this princess." And this is going to be her swayamvar, she is going to choose her husband, I want to have the most distinctive appearance."

And Vishnu promised, "I'm going to give you the most distinctive appearance." And he dressed him in the finest, and gave him a golden crown. And gave him all these ornaments, and made jewels and necklaces and garlands and he made him the most beautiful looking prince with the face of a monkey.

Narada went to the assembly of all the kings and princes and he walked in knowing that he was the most beautiful of all the princes, "Gee, the princess will certainly choose him". And the princess took the garland of victory and she walked around the assembly of princes, and she looked at the face of everyone assembled there and passed by many people, and she came to Narada Muni and she started to laugh! There was this beautiful monkey dressed like a prince coming to win her hand, and she walked right past him and then she came to the last of the Kings assembled and she gave the garland to Vishnu.

Narada said, "Wait! You made a mistake, I'm the most beautiful man here, I'm the most handsome prince and I am deserving of this garland." And everyone started to laugh. And Jaya and Vijaya (two servants of Vishnu that we met in the last scripture) came to Narada and they said, "Why are you so possessed with yourself, you are so filled with self-conceit, you don't know what you look like? Come and look in this looking glass, and see what kind of distinctive appearance you have."

And Narada went and looked in the looking glass and he saw he had the face of a monkey. And he got mad, he took some Ganga Jal in his hand and he said, "Vishnu, I asked you to make me beautiful so that I could get the heart of my beloved and win my beloved, and instead you turned me into a monkey. And now I've lost my beloved, I curse you Vishnu! You will lose your beloved, and endure the pains of separation from her. And in order to get her back you're going to make friends with monkeys, and monkeys are going to be your helpers, and your saviors, and your devotees. And you think that it's funny that I look like a monkey and I lost my beloved, here, is my curse!"

And Vishnu smiled when he received the curse. And said, "I accept your curse Narad, and I will incarnate as a human being and my Goddess Lakshmi will be my wife, and I will endure seperation from her. But all of this is to fulfill the curses against Jaya and Vijaya, who became in the first incarnation Madhu and Kaitabha. In their second incarnation they became Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashyapu. That was the story of Prahalad that we told the other night, which was the story of holding. And then in their third incarnation they became Kumbhakarna and Ravana). And now I have to go down and save the earth from the atrocities of Ravana, so I accept your curse."

Per Shiva Purana Lord Brahma was give a no-puja status by Lord Shiva for Lying.

Per Vishnu Purana - Lord VIshnu is considered Para Brahama - before Lord Brahma

Lord Brahma is the deputy of Lord Vishnu for creation.

From Vaishnav Point of view Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma are considered his equal in the Brahmand.

Per Vaihnavism thelology. There are infinte number of universes.

Lord Brahma lives in Brahma- Lok in this universe.
Lord Shiva in Kaliash in this Unisverse
Lord Vishnu Lives in Ksheera Sagar in this universes and he also lives in Vai-kunth which is outsides all the universes.
There infinite number Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma, Local Lord Vishnu for each universe.
But there is a Supreme Lord Narayana that rule them all.

Brahma's Delusion

STEALING OF BOYS AND CALVES BY BRAHMA:

After the killing of the demon Aghasura, Krishna and his friends sat down on the banks of River Yamuna to have their lunch. They set free the calves to forage for green grass. The calves went deep into the forest and did not return for some time. Afraid of some mishap to their animals, the cowherd-boys wanted to go in search of the calves but Krishna told them to continue with their lunch and volunteered himself for the search. In the forest, Krishna was unable to find the calves; when he returned he saw that his friends had also vanished. In fact, Lord Brahma had stolen these calves and the cowherd boys, took them to a cave and made them asleep under the spell of his mystic power. He wished to see what Lord Krishna would do without the calves and cowherd boys. Through his divine powers, Krishna understood that this was the work of Lord Brahma. He decided to play a trick upon Lord Brahma himself.

Krishna made no effort to release his friends and the calves. Instead, he multiplied himself into the cowherd boys and calves duplicating their original forms and minds. Down to the minutest details he copied their dress, behavior, mannerism, color, voices and other characteristics. These divine forms of the Lord were so perfectly matched the original that no one could even sense a change. As the sun went down, these Krishna-gopas and Krishna-calves wended their way home along with Krishna. On entering the village, each Krishna-gopa bid farewell to Krishna and entered his house along with the Krishna-calves. Krishna had so perfectly copied each boy's characteristics that not even their own mothers could find anything strange. The Krishna-calves too went straight to the mother-cows.

Krishna continued to sustain this Leela so that the people of Vrindavana were not aware that the original boys and calves were missing. Every morning the Krishna-gopas and Krishna-calves would go as usual to the pastures. The calves would graze and the Krishna-gopas would play together all the games that Krishna and the cowboys used to play. In the evening they would return home again. Except for one strange thing, life was normal at Vrindavana. Day by day the mothers began to feel an overwhelming love for their children caring for them lovingly in the evenings. They were reluctant to send them to the pastures in the morning. The cows too began to adore their calves more. They could not stop muzzling them and could not seem to stop licking them.

In this way Krishna enjoyed the lavish love and tender care of so many parents and animals at the same time and gave immeasurable happiness to all the mothers. All the other gods and celestial beings watched with wonder at these Supreme impersonifications and envied those fortunate enough to enjoy Krishna's divine manifestations.

One-day, as usual, Krishna, Balarama and the other Krishna-gopas took their calves to graze in the pastures. The cows were already grazing on the hill slopes of Goverdhana. Seeing their beloved calves they came rushing down the mountain to caress them and lick them with great joy. Balarama, who was watching all this, said to Krishna: "Krishna, do you know the reason why everybody has become more loving towards their children? Why even the cows cannot bear to be separated from their calves. And the strangest thing is that they all look like you to me." Krishna then narrated to Balarama the entire incident of Brahma hiding the boys and the animals.

By now a year was almost over. It was one year of our solar calculation but only a moment in Brahma's calculation. When he came again after a moment, he saw all the boys and calves playing with Krishna as usual. He was greatly puzzled at this since he was certain that all the boys and calves taken away by him were still sleeping in the cave. Very soon Brahma realized that his mystic power was almost nothing as compared to the mystic power of Krishna – the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Just like the light of a candle which pales into insignificance in the face of the sun, so did the mystic of Lord Brahma become insignificant in front of Lord Krishna's mystic. As soon as he acknowledged this, like a mist clearing he saw the dark-complexioned beloved face of Krishna in each of the boys and calves. To his eyes wherever he looked he could only see the four-armed Lord Vishnu in each one's form.

Getting down from his vehicle, the swan, Brahmaji went thrice around Krishna and bowed low. "My Lord, your mystic is infinitely great and divine" he said and sang in praise of the Lord. He then released the cowherd boys and calves. Then seated on his swan he disappeared. The divine duplicates also vanished when the originals came back!.

The real cowherd boys (gopas) were now sitting in the same place from where Brahmaji had whisked them away. But he had cast a spell on them as a result of which they could not remember anything that had happened. The original calves also were grazing peacefully. To them, Krishna also appeared as he had been a year previously. Although he returned after one year, the cowherd boys thought that he had returned in a moment. While enjoying his lunch with the other boys, Krishna chuckled to himself about their not realizingt for one year they had all been involved in the mystic activities of Lord Brahma.

That evening the cowherd boys returned home and told the others how Krishna had saved them yet again from the jaws of death. They related how he had killed the demon Aghasura. The boys actually spoke of the event which had taken place a year ago but which they thought was only a few hours earlier. Day by day the people of Vrindavana spoke lovingly of the deeds of Krishna even though they continued to be unaware of his divine nature.
