Kushal Punjabi enters Antariksh
STAR Plus' futuristic Ramayan i.e Antariksh has Ram and Lakshman in the form of Amar and Vikrant. Ravan, of course, is represented by Rankaal. The one inimitable and lovable character missing from the series was Hanuman. Soon, the makers are rectifying that with the introduction of Challang, the modern version of the god of monkeys. The role will be played by Kushal Punjabi who was last seen in a cameo in Kasamh Se. Says Kushal, "I play a warrior from another planet who comes to Prithvi and meets Amar and Vikrant. My character besides being fit and aggressive is very witty and funny." Initially, Kushal was sceptical about doing the role but when he realised that it would offer him action, drama and comedy he was more than willing to experiment, "though it takes a few pains to get the costume and make-up on" Challang has been given a semi-caveman and semi-futuristic look because they wanted to show Kushal's muscularity and "little bit of skin." "The best part is it is targetted at kids and they are the best audience," smiles the actor. Kushal will soon be seen in a cameo in Nikhil Advani's feature film Salaam-E-Ishq besides the reality game show Paisa Bhari Padega on Sony SAB. "Actually, now I am looking for something good to come my way. I would love to host a show and be my whacky self," he grins.
