PART NINE
Swayam (whisper): of course not baby, how can I dodge anything you ask. I just get too lost in you sweetheart.
Sharon (whisper): to bolo na, what made you sad?
Swayam held her by her shoulder and made her look at him. He made her turn around and sit on him, resting her back on his chest. He located her tee and made her wear it. He slid his hand inside her tee and placed it firmly on her navel. Sharon placed her hand on his. He entwined his fingers of his other hand with hers and kissed her palm.
Sharon turned her head sideways and looked at Swayam with anticipation.
Swayam: arey sacchi, aisa kuch nahi hai jaan. Its just that I've never spoken about myself kabhi to samajh nahi aa raha kaise kahu.
Like I told u, we have a very big family. Mom dad have been always very busy in their lives. I have hardly spent time with them. They take care of the hotel business and travel a lot. Both of them are very ambitious and they spent most of their time on work. I've always felt a lack of their love, support, contribution in my life. Wo hai par phir bhi nahi hai. I don't have any siblings also. Though I have lots of cousins. Par emotionally main kisise bhi zyada close nahi. Mujhe hamesha lagta hai main jisse pyaar karta hoon, jisse apni life mein chahta hoon, wo mujhse hamesha door rehte hai ya door ho jaate hai.
Swayam paused for a moment. His eyes filled with tears. He recalled his parents face.
He came out of his thoughts as he felt a tear drop fall on his forehand.
Sharon recalled all the times she has pushed Swayam away and how rudely she behaved with him.
Before Swayam could react, he felt many more tear drops fall on his hand.
Sharon immediately turned around and hugged him tight. She sobbed lightly while Swayam stroked her back to calm her down.
Sharon (sobbing): m sorry Swayam. M so so sorry for all the times I pushed you away and behaved so rudely with you. You did not deserve one bit of it, I swear.
Swayam smiled through his tears. He stroked her hair and calmed her down.
Swayam: heyyy, don't say sorry baby. Acha aage ki baatein sunni hai ke nahi. Hai na. Then chalo, stop crying.
Sharon calmed down and placed her head on Swayams shoulder. She held his hand and entwined their fingers.
Sharon sniffed a couple of times and said,
Sharon: hmmm...
Swayam squeezed her shoulder and placed his hand on her head. He tightened his grip on her palm with his other hand.
Swayam: So basically mom dad keep very busy. Its not that they don't love me, but their way of expressing love was always showering me with expensive gifts. My dadi mostly took care of me. And apart from dadi, ramu kaka. Though mom has still given me time and she calls me once a week at least but dad never gave me his time. I've always felt an internal competition between the two of them regarding work.
You know Sharon, isiliye main ek weekling hi ban ke rehna chahta hoon. I really don't give all these money and properties and all that much value. Mujhe chotti chotti cheezo mein khushiya milti hai.
When I passed my class 10, I asked mom to let me come to Mumbai. We had a house here and Kaka would be there with me anyway. I never knew my destiny was calling me to Mumbai, cuz tum yaha thi, Mumbai mein.
I fell in love with you the first time I saw you. Pata nahi kya tha, kya dekha maine tum mein, but I could see through you. Mujhe tumhare attitude dikhane wali Sharon Raiprakash ke andar chuppi ek cute, masoom si Sharon dikhi. I instantly knew that this is the girl jiske saath main apni puri life share karna chahta hoon.
Sharon looked up to him and placed a long, deep peck on Swayams cheek.
Swayam: So mom maan gayi aur main Mumbai aa gaya. You know isiliye main aisa hoon. Maine bachpan mein hi soch liya tha that I will never give money importance, that I will shower my family, my wife, my kids with loads of love and my time. Money and things have their own importance, and I don't deny that. But this is who I am. Even with career, you know. I want to do something I can enjoy, something where I don't become that busy and possessive that main apne friends and family se door ho jau, unhe time hi na de saku.
I know I get sad when I think about all these and I know these aren't a big major issue, but you know mere liye hai. I feel pained to have grown up aise. Mere family mein sab ek doosre se bahut pyaar karte hai but koi ek doosre ko express nahi karta. I feel everyone is quite formal. You know jab se Taani mere saath rehne lagi hai, I've got really attached to her. She's my first cousin and the first person from my family jisse mein itna close aur attached hua hoon. I feel so blessed ke Mumbai mein mujhe itne ache friends mile hai. I've really started opening up and sharing myself. And ab jab tum mere saath ho, I can't tell you how happy and glad I am.
Swayam squeezed her arm tightly and pulled her on top of him. He made her sit on his lap and Sharon hugged him tight.
Swayam: Bas ya aur bhi kuch jaanna hai meri baby ko?
Sharon: Baby...will they be okay, I mean will your family accept our relationship?
Swayam made her look at him and cupped her face.
Swayam: of course baby! You don't have to worry a bit! Main hoon na. Waise did I make my family sound like a villain? Aisa bilkul nahi hai. Sab bahut sweet hai, bus kafi formal hai. And they will all love you! Bus ek chotti si issue hai.
The word issue scared Sharon. Her smile vanished and she looked at Swayam with eyes full of questions.
Swayam: chotti si baat hai. Darro mat. Bas tumhein dadisa ke saamne saree pehanke jaana hoga.
Sharon hit him playfully.
Sharon: uff tum to darra diye mujhe.
Swayam: You okay with it? Sacchi? Vaise I am talking only about the first time you meet her! You know you don't need to change a bit for me baby. I really really respect you for who you are and for whatever reasons, I will never want to impose anything on you, you know that, hai na? Haan, unless its anything to do with your health. Tab mat bolna 'don't impose anything on me', got it?
Sharon again hit him playfully on his chest a couple of times.
Both giggled looking at each other.
Sharon gave Swayam a stern look with attitude.
Sharon: Vaise Mr. Shekhawat, what do you think, I can't wear a saree? To update your Sharoncyclopedia, I love wearing sarees! ...its a secret though!
Swayam couldn't believe his ears.
Swayam: Really!
He tucked a stand of hair from her face.
Swayam: well, I would love to see my angel drapped in a beautiful saree soon.
Sharon: your wish shall be granted soon, Mr. Shekhawat!
Swayam: vaise you want to order lunch ya you want to go out?
Sharon: you tell me what I want?
Swayam: ummm...well as far as I know you, you don't want to leave me even for a second and you want to drive me even crazier and hence we will have to order room service!
Sharon: righto!
and she hit his forehead lightly with hers.
Both Swayam and Sharon giggled and Swayam pulled her towards himself and hugged her tight.
He wiggled her and squeezed her hard.
Swayam: mmm...so my cutiepie, what for lunch?
Sharon: your favourite! Pizzas!
Swayam pulled her out of the hug and looked at her.
Swayam: not bad, not bad. Mere pasand napasand bahut fast jaanne lagi ho.
Sharon: tumhein kya lagta hai I never noticed you or anything about you?
Swayam: ab itne cute loverboy ko tum notice na karo, aisa to ho nahi sakta na
Sharon: acha?
Swayam: I am honoured by your attention, my love!
Sharon giggled hard.
Sharon: acha chalo, you place the order, main washroom se aati hoon.
Swayam: Your wish is my command, madame!
Both giggled again and Sharon pecked Swayams cheek before heading towards the washroom. Swayam reached for the phone. He dialed room service and placed order for a veg pizza with lots of sweet corn and mushrooms, as Sharon loved corns and mushrooms. He also called the bar and placed an order for a bottle of red wine.
