Hi all!😛

My name is Reeha, and I was super excited to hear SLB coming to TV and I'm extremely happy with the show thus far. Although I'm at a loss at one point. ..😕

If I'm not mistaken the show is based on a novel- I haven't read it to be honest- so this is why I'm asking for some clarification, and perhaps this will branch out to a larger discussion.

Q: What is the big deal if Saras is Spiritual/religious? Why is his father so against it? How is this "straying" or being on the "wrong path"

Most parents would consider alcoholism/addiction, promiscuity, failure in academics or finances as being a failure or perhaps the wrong path- why is Saras's faith/spirituality so threatening to his father? My parents would be doing jumping jacks if I did half the stuff this guy does!😆

Is this something that will be explained later on?
Or does it have something to do with the past?
Is it explained in the novel- for those who have read it?
Or is it just a random reason to push Saras to get married?

Some food for thought: Would it matter to YOU? If your child, sibling, loved one was like Saras (Not talking Looks here ladies! LOL!)- why or why not?

Please and Thank you!

I don't think he has a problem with saras being religious, he has a problem with him taking it too far. I mean he doesn't even want to get married and stays far away from the family as possible. His dad thinks that by getting him married will make him more family orientated and not be too deep in prayers.

But I don't get how Saras has taken it too far? He doesn't go door to door preaching his faith or asking people to convert over. 😕

I think his dad mentioned in the episode that Saras was going to the places and talked about being Sanyaas😆 hence, he is worried Saras will get too much into religion and spirituality, so he wants to get him married off before he completely gets into religion only.
