John Abraham has been going through a good phase lately. In 2011, FORCE started to get John known as an action star, and this film made Sajid Khan want John to do action in his Super Hit HOUSEFULL 2. DESI BOYZ (2011) did okay at the box office. His production, VICKY DONOR, was a Super Hit and was regarded by many as one of the best films of last year. Then, in January, he had RACE 2, which was a 100 crore Hit. John is back!
This Friday, his next film, I ME AUR MAIN, will release in theaters.
I ME AUR MAIN is a bit different from what John has been doing lately. He's been doing more action scenes recently in his films, but I ME AUR MAIN is different. It looks like more of a multiplex-style rom-com. Nothing wrong with that, but the problem is, the film has almost no buzz!
The theatrical trailer of the film couldn't create much of an impact. Neither could any of the other promos of the film. To be honest, this looks like a film that will do poorly. But, there is a positive side. Apparently, the film is structured in such a way that it won't lose money. The cost of the film seems to have been kept under check.
The film will definitely take a low opening. Business will be better at the multiplexes of big cities.
Opening Day: 3 crores net
Opening Weekend: 10 crores net
Lifetime: 20 crores net
Overall Box Office Verdict: Average
No need to worry for John though, as SHOOTOUT AT WADALA is around the corner!
As for Chitrangda (😳) I hope she finds a lot of success in her future films!
