But it is not sanctioned by religious chiefs, therefore this practice is bound to die out sooner or later. Child marriage has been outlawed by the Indian government and is punishable. Attempts are being made by many organisations to educate the rural people about healthy social practices. With expansion of industrialisation and urbanisation, more women are entering the workforce, which is helping to eliminate many social practices inimical to women.

If you look at the state of Kerala, where the target of 100% literacy was reached long back, the condition of women has improved greatly. Girls from Kerala have spread out all over the country and found jobs as nurses, para-medical staff, typists etc. Many of them are even going to Gulf countries and elsewhere to do these jobs, and repatriating their earnings.

You know it's sad to see people misuing and abusing religion for their benefit.

They misuse the Islamic Laws...but also, wasnt the concept of Universities also started by The Prophet?? yet, why are countless Islamic women not even allowed to get education?

Religion is meant to be binding. to bring people bak onto track. it's just that those in power interpret the meanings to suit them.

I mean, my friend, who's a muslim said that the only reason The Prophet married so many times was to protect the women involved (times were bad then)
people take advantage of that.

i mean priests engage in paedophillia...with young boys esp.

There are evil people in this world misusing religion to suit themselves
