Jagdeesh Singh had left his home to become a better human being and a better doctor. It was on the day of the marriage of his childhood friend, his ex-wife, his nakchadi chuhiya Anandi. She was getting married to a man of quality, a simpleton yet a class apart from him. Shiv Raj Shekhar the first Collector of Jaitsar who came into Anandi's life when she needed someone the most. He was her best friend, her guide, her protector and on some remote subconscious level her love. Yes she had feelings for him. Jagya had seen her feelings for him. He had heard what Shiv meant to her. He was happy for Anandi and Shiv. He was now in search of Jagdeesh/Jagya the son of Bhairon and Sumitra and Dsa's ladesar. He had lost himself because of his pride, greed and much discretion. He would return only when he was worth of being called a member of the Singh family.
It had been almost a fortnight since he had left home. A search party was sent for him by Dsa. He was nowhere to be found. Some leads were there but they turned out to be a dead end. His friend and former colleague Dr. Lal Singh knew about him working at a small government hospital in Laxmiganj. Laxmiganj was a small village which fell under the Jaitsar Zilla. He had begun to be an honest person as he had not left the Jaitsar Zilla as Shiv had taken his responsibility when he got him out of prison. Jagya thought that he had come to Laxmiganj for redemption but it was fate that brought him there. After the day's work of treating patients Jagya was sitting by an open fire. He was remembering the good and the bad days. He saw the right and mostly the wrongs he had done.
He was very determined that he would not return home. He did not want to even after hearing about his mother's ill ' health and Anandi and Shiv coming back. He knew that they would take care of his family as they were the daughter and son ' in ' law of the Singh. They were more capable of bringing happiness to the family. He was sure that if he returned home everyone especially Dsa would pamper him as he was forgiven. He was forgiven but he wanted to earn their forgiveness. He was in the right place. He had found his true calling and it was serving in a place where no doctor would set foot. He was working with minimum facilities and minimum wages trying to make maximum changes. Yet he was satisfied here and now than ever before. As he was lost in thoughts he questioned what was the purpose of his life? What was he supposed to do?
The footsteps and the sound of payal drew his attention. He saw a slender figure running towards him. As she came closer her face became clearer. She was a woman in her mid twenties. She had a child in her arms. She was a village girl who was in need of help. Jagya saw her condition and tried to help but the fiery woman refused. She gave him his first burn, first injury and a scar which would remind him of her. Jagya and the woman had their destinies intertwined. Dsa had said the same about Shiv and Anandi when she had danced to the tune of his dhol in their very first meeting. He was God sent for her. Was this woman God sent for Jagya? She was being followed by some men who claimed her to have lost her mental balance and also stolen a child. Unknown to the truth Jagya became the reason for the woman to return to her captivity.
One day Jagya was treating a patient in his hospital and the same man brought a female patient to him. He saw her to be the same woman. This time she caught Jagya's attention. She was definitely suffering from domestic abuse. He treated her and also found out that she belonged to the most influential man in Laxmiganj. Jagya took not take his mind off of her. The events of the night he had first seen her flashed in front of his eyes. Jagya saw her a few times around the village. One day he reached her home. He wanted to help her. She refused to take his help just like the previous time. He had wronged her. He was the reason for her being back in hell. She hated him for this. She hated men in general except for her only ally Ghanshyaam kaka. He told Jagya her story. Jagya compared her and Anandi's life. The fate of two Balika vadhus was so different. He decided to help Ganga. He tried at every chance he got but she did not change her decision.
The day came when he was finally found by none other than Shiv. Shiv and Anandi convinced him to come back home and he agreed to do so. He went one last time to see Ganga. He left his information with Ghanshyaam kaka for Ganga to use if she ever wanted to. He left the decision on her. He returned home and soon settled in the family hospital. He was happy to be back home and also that though he as pampered he was given responsibilities. He got a chance at home to redeem himself. He got busy in work and family but Ganga came often to his mind. On the auspicious day of Makar Sankraanti Ganga decided to get her freedom. She tried to contact Daactar Sahib. He did not respond. She decided to take a risk. She escaped from the hell she was forcibly living in. She even succeeded to some extent. She was caught by the monster she was escaping from.
He beat her and left her for the dead. He took her child from her. Jagya went and rescued her. He treated her at his hospital. He wanted justice for her. He wanted to bring her son to her. He vowed to get her happiness in her life. His family too was with him in this mission. She told them her life story. Anandi realized that she was far more luckier than Ganga as a Balika Vadhu. She was hurt as a child bride by Dsa but she became Dsa's ladkuwari as the years passed. She was cheated on and abandoned by her husband. She was never alone. She had a loving family in the name of the Singhs and more importantly a spouse in Shiv who stood by her and loved her unconditionally. "Ganga tumse milkar mujhe ye ehsaas hua hai ki meri zindagi tumse kahin zyaada asaan thi. Mere paas ek pyaar karne wala parivaar hai. Mere ek baar k saasre wale mere maayke waale bangaye. Jinhone mujhe padhaya likhaya iss kabil banaya ki aaj main Jaitsar ki sarpanch hoon. Mere jeevan mein ek sahi aur sachhe jeevan saathi ko laaye jinhone meri zindagi khushiyon se bhar di hai. Main tumse kahin zyaada bhagyashaali hoon." Anandi and Shiv the Sarpanch and Collector were at her aide. Shiv called the cops and Ganga narrated the entire life story. She signed the F.I.R. Shiv wanted immediate action. The charges against Ratan Singh and his family were 1. Child marriage, 2. Physical and mental Abuse of a minor, 3. Illegally separating mother from her child and last but not the least 4. Attempt to kill. Jagdeesh signed as the witness. Shiv called the magistrate for an un-bailable warrant. He used all his power to get done whatever was required. There was one problem. There was action to be taken against Ratan Singh the father of the child and the mother Ganga was at present incapable to take care of her child. In these conditions the child could be sent to social services. He could end up in a foster home.
Shiv suggested that Ganga could give temporary custody to someone she put her trust in. As soon as Ganga heard this she looked at Daactar Sahib. He was the only one she knew here. But could she trust him? He knew what she was thinking. "Ganga please ek baar mujhpar bharosa karo. Main maanta hoon ki jab tumhe meri sabse zyaada zaroorat thi main nahi tha. Par main vaada karta hoon tumhaare bacche ka poora poora khayaal rakhoonga. Ganga ghar par ma, Dsa aur taiji hai. Main bacche ko roz tumse milwaane la sakta hoon. Theek hone ke baad tum jab tak chaho haveli par reh sakti ho. Ab se wahi hoga jo tum chahti ho par please sirf ek baar ek baar mujhpar bharosa kar lo." Everyone is amazed to see that Jagya was ready to take custody of her child. She was not only a patient for him. Dsa and the entire family is 100 % behind him in his good work. Ganga went against her ideals of never trusting a man. She put her faith in Jagdeesh her Daactar Sahib. The arrest warrant came soon enough. Shiv was leaving with the cops to go for the arrest to be made. "Jagdeesh aap apni team ko instructions dekar bahar aa jaaiye. Hum meri jeap mein jalte hain. If you could give me some more information." Shiv went out of Ganga's room with the cops. He had a very efficient police team at his disposal.
Anandi was scared. She had heard how dangerous Ratan Singh and his men were. She had flashes of Shiv fighting and injuries during Jyoti's wedding. She became scared for Shiv's safety. She knew him too well. He would carelessly go after anyone who does injustice to anyone. She went out after him. She saw him in the corridor. He was working on his cell phone. She took it away from him. he just looked at her behavior. He was truly shocked. She stopped Shiv from going with the cops and Jagya. "Aap se milkar hi main jeene lagi hoon. Aap nahi jaayenge. Wo log bahut dangerous hain aapne suna na? Aap ab akele nahi hain main bhi hoon aapke saath. Aap ko mere liye wahaan nahi jaana. Main aapki responsibility. Main aapko nahi jaane doongi itne khatre mein. Main ghar par sabko kya kahoongi. Wo mujhi se poochenge ki maine aapko aise khatre mein kyun jaane diya." Shiv was really touched by her parwa. She was really behaving like his wife, well the possessive, dominant wife that she actually was. He cupped her face with his hands. He made her calm and wiped the tears from her eyes which were about to escape her big beautiful kholed eyes. He said with a re assuring smile. "Anandi I have to go. Anandi ye mera job hai. Aap jaanti hain ki main apne kaam ke beech mein kuch nahi sochta. Mujhe kuch nahi hoga. Jab aapne mujhse shaadi ki thi tab aapko pata tha ki mere kaam mein aise khatre hote hain. toh ab kya hua? Aap hi mere himmat badhati hai na? Toh ab aap mujhe kamzor mat kijiye. Aap se hi mujhe himmat milti hai. Pehle jab main aise khatre ka saamna karta tha tab mujhe meri family ki fikar hoti thi par ab aapse milkar mujhe aisa koi darr nahi hai. Don't worry." He promised her that he would be back unhurt.
She wanted to go with them but he refused. Ganga wanted to go get her child. She was not strong enough to face any sort of hardship. Jagdeesh tried to but could not refuse Ganga. She was desperate to see her son and get her back. Anandi went with them to take care of Ganga. The four of them went in Shiv's jeep. The cops followed them. When they reached the home of Ratan Singh no one was there. They were absconding. Shiv ordered the cops to find them at any cost. Ganga gave them information of all the relatives she knew of. She also gave them Padma's parent's address. Ratan Singh was under the impression that Ganga was dead. He knew the cops would come to question him as Jagdeesh was involved. The first attempt to unite mother and child was not successful. They returned empty handed. Shiv and Anandi dropped Ganga and Jagya at the haveli. Ganga would stay at the haveli.
She was taken to the guest room. Jagya was taking care of her. He stood at her door thinking. "Ganga tumse milkar mujhe iss baat ka ehsaas hua hai ki maine apni zindagi mein kitna galat kiya hai. Aaj tak mujhe pata tha ki maine Anandi ko takleef di hai apr aaj jaana hai ki kiss haddh tak maine use takleef di thi jab usne mujhe Gauri ke saath dekha. Main tumse wada karata hoon ki trumhaare jeevan ki khushi main tumhe lautakar hi rahoonga. Meri wajah se tum do baar apne bacche se bichhdi ho par ab nahi." His heart was filled with care for Ganga. Sumitra had noticed how much Jagya cared for Ganga. She was seeing her son. She was happy for him. She reprimanded herself from thinking about Jagya and Ganga together. There were many hurdles before them. The biggest hurdle was Ganga's past.
That night at the CH Anandi and Shiv too came one step closer. She opened her heart out to Shiv. She told him everything about her life. She asked him not to think low of her family especially Dsa. He promised her that her family could never lose respect in his eyes. She thanked him for helping her and standing by her in every decision. He held her hand and said that he will always be by her side. He waited for the day when they would truly become husband wife because he has so much love in him for her that his heart would burst on day. She promised herself that now she would try and see things with fresh set of eyes. Her past was scary but a beautiful present and future was waiting for her with arms wide open. She remembered how right she felt when she woke up that morning. She slept with a huge smile on her face.
Ganga was in the haveli and was recuperating at a good pace. Jagya and the family were taking full care of her. Nandu was not allowed to go to her because she could go back in depression as her son was not yet found. One day she heard Nandu's laugh. He drew her to him. He was watching cartoons. She went and sat next to him. Jagya returned from the hospital and saw that Ganga was not in her room. He followed the laugh coming from the TV room. He wanted to take Ganga back to her room but Sumitra stopped him saying that she was fine. She would get better faster if she was with a child. She needed Nandu more than the medications. Jagya agreed with his mother. She saw something more that care in his eyes. She gently pressed his shoulders. "Jagya ab koi galti mat karna. Shuru se shuru kar sab sach sab kuch. Beta jo ho wo jo faisla kare uski izzat karna. Apne baare mein use sab kuch bata de agar uska vishwaas pana hai toh. Teri ma tere saath khadi rahegi. Main sabse ladoongi tum dono ke liye agar wo bhi haan kehti hai toh."
"Maa main vaada karta hoon. Main ab sab kuch sahi hi karoonga. Aap mere saath rahengi na?" Jagya called Ganga to the terrace. She did not know what he wanted to say. "Daactar Sahib aapne maahre ko bulayo. Ke kaam se? Ke huo? Mahro choro mil gayo aapko? Batao na Daactar Sahib?" Jagya told her everything. His bal vivah with Anandi. Everything he put her through as a child, teenager and later on. His affair and illegal marriage to Gauri. His realization, His selfish motive of trying to break up Shiv and Anandi, the railway fraud. Everything. Ganga could not believe her ears. The Daactar sahib who was hell bent on helping her had put another girl a balika vadhu through hell. "Daactar Sahib aap manney ye sab kyun batavo. Aap jaano ho ki ye sab sunkar maahre mann mein aapke liye nafrat ho sakti hai. Phir kaaye?" "Ganga tumse milkar mujhme ye badlaav aaya hai. Main yahaan se chala tha ek naya insaan banne. Tumse milkar main ek naya insaan ban paya hoon. Main tumse sab kuch sach batana chahta tha. Main tumse tumhaara saath maang raha hoon. Kya tum, main aur tumhara baccha ek parivaar ban sakte hain? Kya mujhpar bharosa kar sakti ho?" She had no idea that this was what he felt for her. As far as she knew everything inside her that made her a woman was dead. She was now only a mother.
They received a call from Shiv that Ratan Singh and his family is arrested. They needed to come down to the police station. Jagdeesh told Ganga about the happy news. They did not want to be a late by even a nano second. Ganga and her Daactar Sahib went to the police station. They saw her child. Ganga ran to her child. The mother and child were united. Ganga was thankful to al the people who helped her. Ratan Singh and his family changed colors. They were ready to take Ganga back and treat her like a queen. They gave her all types of waasta and kasam. She was firm on her decision that she wanted justice. She had only one request with the police that Padma be given some other kind of punishment instead of being sent to prison as she was going to be a mother. Padma was never considerate towards her but she was. That was what made Ganga special. She came back to the haveli with Jagdeesh. She was welcomed with open arms. Sumitra had given Bhairon some idea what Jagdeesh wished. He too would respect Ganga's decision. They would give her time. They decided that she could continue to live at the haveli even if she refused.
Ganga needed to get over her past to begin a new life with her Daactar Sahib. Anandi too needed to get over her past to move forward with her Collector Sahib. They just needed to take a leap of faith and hold on to the hand of the men who had fallen in love with them. These were two Balika Vadhus with a different past looking towards a happy present and a happier future.
