***Part 3***
He stood at the same spot, as if somebody nailed his feet to the ground for the next few minutes. Whatever he just saw did not make any sense to him. He was trying his best to control the raging anger building inside him. How can Manvi behave like this with him? The Manvi he knew would walk on fire just to bring a small smile on his face. What happened to her? He thought really hard if there was anything he had said or done that might be causing her to behave like this.
The only thing he remembered was that the last six months that they were together, there were a number of times when she complained that he wasn't giving her any time, that he was too busy with his work. This had let to a few arguments but she knew that he had just started up and their company needed his extreme dedication and she always supported him fully. Nothing really was justifying this ruthless behavior of hers.
He wasn't going to go empty handed. She had no right to treat him like this. He knocked on the door lightly, he needed answers 'NOW'. He waited on for a bit, but nobody opened the door. He knocked again, this time more loudly. He heard the lock unclick but the door was still closed. He twisted the handle and opened it slowly unable to wait any longer. He was confused when he saw nobody at the door. He stepped in as a familiar sweet fragrance greeted him, soothing his raging fury. "It's not polite to knock twice." He heard a kid's voice. He looked sideways to see the little guy standing on a couch, with his one leg on the hand rest and his hands on his hips. He seemed angry too.
Virat looked at the kid amazed. He looked so adorable with his pout-ish face. He probably unlocked the door by getting up on the couch but his tiny hands couldn't grip the huge door knob and open it.
"Nikki!! Go play with your sister." Manvi came out carrying a blood soaked cotton dressing and a first aid box. She went pale looking at him inside her house.
"Manvi!!! Are you okay?? Did you get hurt?" Virat rushed to her but Manvi moved back. She put everything aside and held the bedroom door for Nikki to go inside.
"Nikki go inside and sit with Ria" Manvi instructed the kid. Her voice was quivering.
"I opened it because he kept knocking." Nikki protested pointing at Virat.
"Go!!!!" Manvi yelled as Nikki bent his head down and walked inside dragging his small cricket bat behind him.
Manvi closed the door shut and walked towards the main entrance opening this one for Virat. "Virat! I asked you to leave. Give me your number I will call you. I cannot talk to you now."
"First tell me, are you ok?" He looked at her worried. She did not look into his eyes. Her eyes were red and watery as if she had been crying.
"It's none of your freaking business. Get out right now!" she yelled at him gathering all her strength. Her fists were clenched and eyes were shut tightly.
Her callousness made Virat completely lose it. He walked to her furiously and turned her to face him digging his nails into her arm. He thrusted her onto the wall.
"How dare you talk to me like this Manvi?? Where the f**k were you and who are these kids? Do you really expect me to see you all this and walk away quietly??? I thought you f**king died, you heartless arghhh!..." he let out a small cry. "you couldn't even call me?"
Manvi looked at him with her wide eyes which were now flowing out like a rapid stream. His eyes were blood-shot. She knew he wasn't going to back away.
Nobody knows how I survived these last three years, I kept dying again and again, every f**king second." He banged his hand on the wall making Manvi flinch in pain. She looked away and shut her eyes tightly.
"So NO I am not going anywhere until I get some answers." He let go of her arm and moved away seeing her face wilt in pain. Her facial muscles were all tensed and her face itself was red with tears dripping down from it. She withdrew from his clasp and starting walking backwards, scared of him. Her hand now had red marks where he just held her. She walked until she hit the corner of the room.
Why was he here now? She had managed to gather the scattered pieces of her heart with extreme difficulty for her kids. She didn't have the strength to face him again. Get hurt again. She couldn't let her kids know about him. He was an animal who betrayed her in the worst possible way. What more does he want now? 'Please go away' she mumbled.
It tugged his heart to see her like this. He moved towards her lovingly. "What happened to you baby? Did anyone hurt you??" he asked her softly, placing his palm on her cheek. How could you abandon me like this?" He moved his hand onto her hair and brought her face closer to his, his breathing got really heavy as he smelt her intoxicating perfume. "Talk to me baby." He opened his eyes and looked at her with a heart-melting smile. He was ready to face anything she would hand to him. He loved her to death.
The dupatta on her kurta slipped down a little exposing the proof that she was still married to him. It gave him a soothing pleasure to see that she was still wearing it. He moved his hands around her neck feeling the small black beads. Her entire body trembled nervously at his touch; her fingers clenched a fistful of her dress in apprehension of what might follow. He ran his hand from her neck to her shoulder further down to her hand. He opened her fist adoringly and took her hand in his. However, his smile faded away seeing her bare hands, his emotions rose to the sky with fury. "Where is my ring Manvi??" he demanded.
She shuddered at his raising voice.
"I am asking you something. Speak up! Have you gone dumb?" he pulled her hand.
Her mind was not in her control, her body was not co-operating with her. She needed to do something, something very quickly, she needed to send him away. She cannot keep revisiting her past again and again. Hasn't he stolen enough of her life's vigor? She knew that he wouldn't buck away unless she told him something. Something that would tell him that she is off-limits. Something that would keep him away from her and her kids forever.
There was a knock on the door. "Manvi!" Rahul came in and stopped in his tracks looking at the scene in front of him. Manvi was hunched and cornered by Virat behind the door. Her eyes are red and she looked like a scared kitten. "What's going on ??" he enquired as Virat turned away from Manvi briefly irritated with the intrusion.
"Who are you?" Virat asked him rudely.
"My husband" Manvi replied in a very very low voice.
"What did you say?" Virat turned back to her unable to believe what he just heard.
"He is my husband, those are our kids. It's the truth." She said gathering all her strength. As soon as she said this she felt a tight thunderstorm like slap on her face. She crumbled onto the floor burying her head in between her knees trying to stop her uncontrollable sobs. He looked at her oozing fire from his eyes.
"Listen whoever you are, I am going to call the police right now.." Rahul said in a daze.
"YOU!!! bas***d..." Virat held Rahul's collar tightly shaking all his senses out of his head. Rahul looked at him shit scared. He pushed him away onto the couch and looked at Manvi for one last time. His whole body repulsed at what she told him, he was shaking with a wild fury. He wanted to hurt her, even kill her for what she did. He rolled his fingers in a tight fist and punched the wall so hard that the whole room reverberated in echo.
"Viraaat!!!!!!!!!!" Manvi screamed, but, before she could get up, he stormed out of there like a mad elephant.
