Q. What is your style statement?
Simple, understated and classic. I'd never do something over-the-top or frilly and flouncy. That's just not me.
Q. Name the one item of clothing you can't live without…
(Laughs) I know I can't say flip-flops, so I'll say jeans. You'll almost always see me in a pair of jeans. I'm an out-and-out jeans girl. They are stylish and comfortable. I can live in them.
Q. Are you into designer wear?
Actually, I'm huge on high-street fashion. And there are some great high-street brands around. But I like designer wear too. I guess it's a mix of both, depending on where I have to go. But I opt for high-street stuff more often than not.
Q. So do you have a favourite designer?
Yes, Anamika Khanna without a doubt. Her clothes are lovely.
Q. Do you ever take tips from your designer friends?
Yes, I do sometimes but only when I am going for an event or something. When I am going out with friends or doing my own thing, I like to stick to my own personal style.
Q. Who inspires your personal style?
Nobody. I have my own style. I just put things together and see what looks good on me and suits me. Or I wear clothes according to how I am feeling on that particular day. Comfort is the most important thing for me.
Q. What is the one outfit that every woman should have in her wardrobe?
A classic LBD (little black dress). It's versatile, affordable and black is a neutral colour. Every woman should own a simple, elegant black dress because it can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. For example, you can wear it with a jacket and pumps during the day and with more ornate jewellery and accessories in the evening.
Q. One fashion faux-pas a woman should never make is…
This isn't really a fashion faux-pas per se but it has got a lot to do with the way you end up looking. Even if you're wearing good clothes but you've got your foundation and base wrong, you'll look bad. It's also important to get the colour of your base right. I've often noticed people get it all wrong because they do their make-up in a particular light and walk out of the house not realising that the same light isn't going to be everywhere. Many a time, people end up looking completely white because of it.
Q. Have you ever had a big fashion faux-pas moment?
(Grins) No, thank God! But I am always worried about it. So before I get out of the house, I make sure everything is okay. I just hope something like that never ever happens to me.
Q. What do you wear when you want to feel sexy?
I don't think I am sexy. I don't even dress like that. I prefer casual, chic clothes. But I would do layers and drapes. I can't don typical sexy clothes like tiny tight skirts. But when I put on a pair of heels, I definitely feel like I am dressing up. (Giggles) Because I feel rather tall and I'm wearing something other than flip-flops.
Q. What should one keep in mind when getting dressed for a party?
Pick something that suits you and not something that's currently the trend. But if you can strike a balance between the two, nothing like it.
