And the list goes on... so many times , in our lives, in a fit of rage. on the brink of an emotional outburst. we unleash our dark side and we say the worst kind of things - to ppl who matter to us and ppl who don't matter to us. Why do we do that? Because we want to hurt the other one just as much as we are.
Today , when Asad told Zoe in a fit of rage - "Issliye aapki Ammie aapke saath nahiin hai" ( i don't know how he knows - too much use of creative liberty that information may have been exchanged , but drama ke effect ke liye chalta hai.)... I was reminded of Varun and Siddharth's fight in Student Of The Year. Varun is furious at Siddharth and he tells him that since he is unfaithful and fickle, his parents and his loved ones left him. Siddharth punches him. They fall apart and they don't meet for years. The day they see each-other again, they realize that they were always soul-brothers and no matter what has happened between them, they are best friends forever...
Asad behaved like Varun today but Zoe was not in Siddharth's shoes. She really really was innocent. Asad's fierce and obsessive love for his mother and his sister de-sensitized him to Zoe's pain and he is still in that trance where Zoe is responsible for everything.He told her the harshest words , hurt her , threatened her - not because he wanted to hurt her. He did it because he was hurt and still recovering from the trauma. When you don't see reason, when you are riding high on emotional cliffhangers, you are like a wild horse on the loose and you can hurt anyone. So, Asad is understandable , excusable in his CURRENT MENTAL STATE but not justified. Theek hai. Insaan hai aur galtee honaa expected hai.
But Zoe? She has not done anything to deserve this. Nothing. She doesn't deserve Asad's anger and hatred, she doesn't deserve to be an orphan. She does not deserve this suffering . She does not deserve to cry. She deserves a life that is as flawless as her heart. She lands in situations where she suffers and ends up messing everything. Its almost like the universe is against her - and if that is not enough , Asad's weird power over her to hurt to the extent of making her submissive and a crybaby does not help matters. Today, she appeared as lonely as Asad to me. Nobody knows Asad's internal turmoils and nobody knows Zoe's suffering heart. Same story. A different screenplay.
Now , that i think of it , both Asad and Zoe said things today that they shouldn't have said . Asad hurt Zoe by calling her an orphan and Zoe hurt Dilshie's sentiments by saying - "Main kisi paraaye ke ghar mein padi hoon." This is your Phuphi's house Zoe and if Dilshie would have heard you say that , she would have been very upset. Asad sankee hua to kya, tumhaari Phuphi toh tumhein chaahti hai na? Gussa aur dard - dono hi sooraton mein dimaag salaamat nahin rehta insaan ka.
Aur ye Asad? Kitni baar bechari Zoe ko jaan se maarne ki dhamkee detaa hai. Sachh mein Asad ke chakkar mein, ek din Zoe ki jaan hi jaayegi. Precap mein Lion se Lamb ban toh gaye , lekin maafi bhi i guess apne signature style mein hi maangegein janaab.
And as i sign off for the day, i have to mention my favourite scene and dialogue.
1. Shireen and Rashid's scene was my favourite scene from the episode.. The way he comes and sits like a ruined man and Shireen observes him. The moment his tears fall, she runs and takes him in her arms and they both cry. Waqar and Shabnam were marvelous here. Shireen may not be Rashid's soulmate but she is his backbone, if Dilshee is his heart. And i was touched when the first question that Shireen asked Rashid was - Dilshaad?
2. " Main Dilshaad ko roz dekh nahiin paata. Lekin ye ehsaas ki main jab chaahe use dekh sakta hoon, ye ehsaas mere jeene ke liye bahot hai. " ...Rashid may not have a backbone, but he has a heart and that is enough for me to understand that he may have sinned, but he can still have his redemption.
