It's just another way of canvassing: Samir Nair
Co-contestants Shweta Tiwari-Raja Chaudhry and Gaurav Chopra-Narayani Shastri, who had been voted out earlier, were also sceptical about the SMS voting that went against them.
"We were doing well till a few rounds but suddenly the popular vote dropped," said Gaurav Chopra.
Added singer Abhijeet, who is a judge on the Zee TV's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs, "The system is open to manipulation."
Meanwhile, Samir Nair, COO, StarIndia said, "As far as the channel is concerned, we have absolutely no issues with any couples indulging in such exercises. We see it as just another way of canvassing. In fact, buying SIM cards to enhance the couple's chances has been happening for some time now. We had something similar last year too . I remember, last year, the Nach Baliye winners, Sachin and Supriya, had travelled widely in the interiors of Maharashtra in an attempt to garner votes."
Judges Speak
Saroj Khan,
Judge on Star One's Nach Baliye 2 now and Nach Baliye last year
I am unaware of these new developments. However, there is nothing new about this. I remember, the last time also we had heard about something of this sort going on. Since I have not read the reports, I would not like to comment any more.
Kunal Kohli,
Judge on Nach Baliye 2Public votes come in lakhs. One cannot manipulate them by just 200 SIM cards. I am on the show to judge the performance of the participants not their credibility. And the channel must have thought of all the possible loopholes before launching the concept.
Sonu Niigaam,
Judged Sony's Indian Idol last year
Irrespective of these wrongdoings, public voting should go on. I believe that irrespective of alleged mischief, ultimately the most popular couple is the winner.
Abhijeet,
Judge on Zee's Little champs
The system is open to manipulation. I have heard of special software programmes being developed which could be used to swing the contest in the direction you want. The solution is to keep people's participation (through the net or sms) at a minimum and increase the judge's influence.
