She looked around to check if her backup was there. She could not see anyone. She contemplated her situation and her options. In the end she decided though it was rash but she needed to take this rash step. She went around the store and at the back were the wooden old stair case quite like ruins. She managed to climb up without pulling any unnecessary attention to herself her dress was actually aiding her.

At the end of the steps was a small terrace in a very broken condition. She could hear someone coughing and then she heard a womans voice telling someone.

(though I really wanted to carry on in Hindi here as that gives the feel of the illiterate and really crude characters but for the benefit of non hindi speaking friends who requested me to not write in Hindi. I will carry on in English)

Woman:- give me a sip of water.

The voice was of Gafuran. Madhu literally wanted to barge in but she crept closer to the doorway of the room the sound was coming from as silently as she could. She heard Gafuran again

Gaf:- what you are looking for you will never get if you don't let me drink water.

She coughed violently again.

The man:- keys give me the keys you idiot. Give it to me or I reveal your daughter's identity to the whole world. I have heard she is getting married to some police officer.

Madhu could feel the long time illness of Gafuran getting the better of her. She thought to herself what keys was this man talking about. The man this time hit Gafuran with his booted toe in her abdomen. Gafuran let out a heart wrenching wail. Madhu could take it no more. She grabed her revolver and barged straight in. She screamed

Madhu:- Police (pointing the revolver to the man in his early thirties) police don't move or I shoot you.

Gafuran :- Huzur ….

Madhu looked at her and immediately got it that she was trying to hide Madhu's identity from this man otherwise she use to address her as choti chaudhrain.

Madhu:- who are you?

The man:- Devraj chaudhary and since when did police started employing chamiya's like you.

Madhu was taken aback by his name. It did not take long for her to understand that this was her brother. She lost her concentration for a mere second and Devraj hit the glass that was lying next to his toes. It went straight flying and onto Madhu's forehead. The glass was a worn out aluminum glass with blunt edges. It did nothing more than bringing her back to reality. She moved forward, and hit his groin with her knee.

Madhu:- this for calling me chamiya

DC:- Ouch….

He went rolling to the ground. She hit him again this time in his abdomen.

Madhu :- this for hitting an old helpless women. Why are you here??

DC somehow collected himself and tried to punch Madhu in her face. Madhu dodged the punch and shoved his head with much force into the wall behind her.

Madhu:- I can kill you with bare hands. Why are you here?

Gafuran:- Huzur……her voice was lost in another bout of a violent cough followed by a spurt of blood from her mouth…..Huzur go away from here fast. His men will be here any minute.

She labored hard to breathe. Madhu looked at her and felt a stab of pain in her gut. This was the woman who was responsible for their very survival. If not for her she and her mother both would have been murdered by her father Balraj Chaudhary.

She hit his head in the wall again. This time he lost his senses.

Gafuran :- choti chaudharain mallik….he is your brother….

Madhu bent down to her with a glass of water. She made her sip it.

Gafuran:- don't touch me …it is infectious ….

Madhu:- what did he want why was he here??

Gafuran:- he used to come to Rani the girl in that high society kehkashan Hotel in Juhu. His men killed her because she had come to know that they were drug smuglers. She managed to get hold of his consignment and she hid it in her bank locker and the keys with me. It is in that box. ( Gafuran pointed towards the little box that was lying open on the ground.) Choti Chaudhrain you should go…he is not alone…

Madhu:- where is my father ?? do you have any info on him….( she rubbed her chest again

Gafuran:- he is in America these days but mostly lives in Mexico. The mexico police is after him. I learnt it all from Rani.

Madhu:-Where in America?

Gafuran:- Las vegas.. he is in process to build a juakhana Rani said "Kaisina." Choti chadharain sarkar take this box with you. Break it's upper sheat I have hid the keys in it and address and number of rani's locker. It also has a necklace I wanted to give it to Trishna for her wedding but…I will not live to see it. You married that devil to save her did you not, or rather for me. Choti chaudhrain sarkar when there is a day in your life when you feel truly happy then wear this. This belongs to your mother. She had brought it from her mayka on her wedding. Your father had pulled this from her neck infront of me to give it to me as I had danced in their wedding. Tell your mother I could not serve her well. Please beg forgiveness on my behalf…..

Madhu wanted to stop her…but she heard some steps

Gafuran :- huzur run, run away from here fast. She coughed violently again but did not recover this time. She breathed her last. Madhu hugged her. She wanted to arrange for her funeral but now was not the time she needed to run….

She turned to grab the box and got up to get out of the room but on the door stood 4 huge and ugly men. She immediately pointed her gun towards them.

Madhu:- get out of my way or I will……

DC had come back to his senses long time back and heard their conversation. He grabed her hair from behind and pushed her full force towards those men. Madhu lost balance and fall down on her face. She did a somersault and grabed one of the men and twisted his neck with a plop sound he died, she threw him on to the other three.

This diverted the others for a few seconds. She noticed DC now had the box. She needed to cross the room to reach DC. The rest three were now surrounding her. One of them had a country made revolver and one had a knife. She saw the dead man's revolver in his back belt. As soon as the man infront of her fired at her she split down and grabed the revolver from the dead man. The bullet from the other man hit the man infront and bam he was gone too. Two dead two more to go. DC was now a little scared. He took out his pistol and shot at Madhu Madhu had seen DC moving from the corner of her eyes and knew the other two were not concentrating at her even before the man with the knife knew she pulled him down infront of her and the bullet from DC's pistol hit his chest area. He was injured beyond repair but was yet alive. Madhu got time to shoot on the knee of the last man alive. The shot shattered his knee and he doubled up in pain. Now she was face to face with her brother. Both pointing revolvers to each other. Madhu had kicked the revolver lying on the ground next to the injured man away from him. So he was rendered useless. It was now blood to blood. Both deadly and unforgiving. DC said,

DC:- so you are asp Madhubala Shamsher Mallik….Aka Madhubala Balraj chaudhary. Let us see what is more fiery blood in my veins or salt in yours.

Madhubala was concentrating on him she did not hear a word nor did she say a word…she heard more footsteps.

DC laughed and said "my men" no one can save you now… "If dad were here I would have taken you to him with love and respect and then killed you infront of him. Oh how happy he would have felt. So sorry he ain't here as you already know so no spare moments for you."

Madhubala was concentrating on his movements and was trying to guess who the upcoming men could be. From what she heard she knew his aid would be here any moment. She had just this minute to act. DC was busy talking and hurling insults at her. He did not notice her pace at him. Within a few second she had crossed the room and was now behind him. She had knife in one hand. She grabed him by his throat and kept the knife right on his throat. Three more men were now in front of her. All his men, he was now scared to death he had seen his sister had no inhibitions in killing. She actually was a killing machine. She said to those men "a step forward and I kill your boss." They all stopped then and there. They saw all their men gone and knew this woman could kill. So they backed a few inches off. Madhu looked down the broken window behind her and guessed she was atleast 15 feet above the ground. The ground was solid concrete. She knew she would not survive the jump down the window in one piece. She needed someone as her airbag and she knew who it would be. He still cluthed the box in his hands. She turned him in just one strong move and told him to jump. He looked down and even before he could say anything she braced herself on his back and Kicked hard on the window.
