Hello parjai ji...!!!
Here comes your "late commer" Nanad...I don't care how late, I am just glad and very nervous to have you on my thread.Today i have realized what i was missing till now by not finding the time to read this wonderful wonderful story...!!!Thank god, these are not "Doordarshan" days, when once missed "episode" was "missed" for forever...!!!!My mom used to make a wisecrack and if we asked her to repeat it she'd say in Marathi, "Radio Edach bolto"(Radio ek hi baar baat karta hain.)I have read five chapters only..I read three yesterday and two today..and i forgot what i wanted to say yesterday..I wished i have typed my comment yesterday only...All i remember is that"I love miri and her whole family.."Its first time when I am liking "Brij"...!!!Thank you so much forintroducing this new couple "Brij and Pari"..It was beyond my imagination actually..I have a lot more planned for them, especially Pari. 😉 You see she is the female version of MSK, only rowdier.I can't wait to write about her. She is kickass, I promise; and I hope the readers will like what I write. There was a lot of fun moment during first three chapters but one could feel the "hidden seriousness" beneath them...!!!Geet's attitude towards little dev...Geet being herself on wheel chair once ,,clearly tells about the "stuggle" she had faced in her life...!!!!Read a couple more chapters for revelations.😉Now coming to the chapter four and five...You are perfect in creating ambiance with the words parjai ji..I am saying this to the second "writer"..Being a "writer" myself,Its most difficult task for me to let my reader feel the place where the protagonists are standing, sitting or chatting..I bet ,i can learn alot from you in this area...Not only this area,I think in every area...Your writing is dripping with "Eloquence" and i hope i would be able to collect few drops of it to enrich myself..!!!Look at all the compliments you are giving me. It's like the kettle calling the pot shiny(not black)😆. And I am really, really humbled and overwhelmed that a writer of your caliber whose writings I admire so much, would give me such compliments. It means a lot to me sweetheart😃
Apart from the awesomest writing,Your storyline is hell gripping...Their first meeting and "misunderstanding" in the first meeting itself was so natural and effortless..It felt like ,"yes,i could have thought same what maan was thinking after hearing geet's words if i was at his place...".!!!I actually thought it was cliched, but it works for the storyline to move on,so I used it. Hey that has been the trend since Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice days. Why change, what works right?😉I love itI love it..I love it alot...ps- what i loved most was your "narratives" at the end..!!! I wish i would also experience a real life eyelock one day...One stupid eyelock and my whole life changed. So think twice before you wish for it😆Though I definitely don't regret my eyelock😉And I love you more than a lot more my Pilli Nanadji. 🤗pps-Be ready for my late comments...!!!!At last palin saying "Thank you" for writing this bful tale...I love this Shin Chan. What hot number is he goingto perform for me. Though I wonder if he is going to drop his pants for the finale😆
Don ki fan ji, ho much more time?
I've been tapping my foot and checking the thread since 8 in the morning! 😳
You checked my comment on Zarin's thread bhootni?😆Me is doing final touch up. 😉
Hello Everybody,
CHAPTER 12
Maan was puzzled at his Dadi's behavior and turned towards Dev's room.
As he was about to enter the room, three people stepped out of it.
One was Dev, second was the little girl, he'd seen downstairs. The third person was in profile and had her face turned away slightly. But he'd have recognized that profile anywhere, even on the darkest of nights. And right now she was standing under the bright light streaming through the large window behind her. She turned her face forward and their gazes met.
There was a roaring sound in his ears as he looked upon her, his heart beat slowed down for a moment and then resumed pounding wildly. His hungry gaze travelled all over her, devouring her greedily. She was just as beautiful with the sunlight pouring over her, as she had been under the chandeliers, on the night of the charity ball. Just for a moment, everything around him faded as he looked upon her. Dressed in a much simpler outfit than she had been on the night of the party, with wisps of hair framing her delicate face, she still looked ethereal. Was she really there, or was she just a figment of his imagination. The sudden movement of his brother's chair got his attention and drew him out of his trance.
She was really here! She was not his imagination. His shocked gaze met her wary eyes and in that moment he realized something. She was not surprised to see him at all. Did that mean, she knew that this house belonged to him? What the hell was she doing here? How did she know Dev and Dadi? What was her plan? For a week now, he'd been struggling to get her thoughts out of his mind and he'd finally succeeded, only find her here, in his house and in his face. All the resolves he'd made, all the peace he'd acquired vanished in an instant and he strode towards her purposefully.
"Dev tum Annapurna ko kaise jaante ho? Yeh yaha pe kya kar rahi hain?"
("Dev, how do you know Annapurna? What is she doing here?")
He ignored the woman standing before him and addressed his younger brother in a cold voice, that sent shivers down Geet's spine.
Geet stared at the man in front of her. Miri had been right, it really was him. Just for a moment, she'd thought that this was all a joke and that Miri was mistaken, or perhaps Dev had been kidding. But the tall, handsome man looking at her first with shock, then angry disdain was not an apparition after all. On the one hand she was too shocked on finding out this man's relationship to Dadi and Dev, on the other she was hurt. How could these people whom she'd trusted so much, betray her like this. How could Dadi, especially after knowing the way this man had wrongly accused and insulted her , mislead her and keep this man's identity concealed from her. And why had Dadi walked away from the confrontation, which she surely knew would happen, once her older grandson faced Geet. The questions he'd just asked Dev, revealed his ignorance to her presence in his house. It seemed he too had been kept in the dark and if the thunder cloud on his face was any indication, he was royally pissed off.
"Dekhiye,"
("Look,") she began, with the intent of clearing his misunderstanding, as she did not want to be wrongly accused again. However, before she could get another word in, the arrogant man raised his finger to her in a quieting motion.
"I am talking to my brother and I do not like being interrupted when I'm talking Miss Annapurna."
Geet saw red at that statement and walked right up to him.
"Excuse me Mr. Khurana, but I can speak for myself. For the first and the last time, my name is not Annapurna; I am Geet Handa. I don't know what your Dadi and brother are playing at, but I am out of here with my daughter and I am not coming back."
"Nahin, Geet Di!" Dev exclaimed.
Maan frowned at the name she'd uttered. What the hell was going on here? She was Annapurna, Brij Handa's sister. Brij himself had introduced her '. No, Brij had never gotten around to introducing her. Maan had only over heard the name Annapurna and assumed it was her name. And that name Geet, where had he heard it before. And then it suddenly struck him, she was the same woman who'd taken Dadi and Dev to some godforsaken unhygienic place, with complete disregard for their safety. He remembered the worry and anxiety he'd faced that day and Maan Singh Khurana who never shouted, lost his cool completely and yelled,
"Oh my God! Tum Geet ho, tum? I should have known. Tell me; tell me right now what the hell are you planning?" Why are you here in my house?
Miri who had been standing quietly, jumped a mile high hearing the angry tone of the tall man glaring at her mamma and hugged her mother's leg tightly in fear.
"Mamma." She called anxiously.
Geet's turned around and focused on her daughter's fearful face. She struggled to pick Miri up and held her on her right hip.
Miri struggled for a brief moment, as she knew her mother could not handle her weight, unless she was sitting down.
"Mamma, mujhe niche utaro. Kyu utha rahi ho mujhe tum. Tumse nahi hoga."
("Mamma, let me down. Why are you picking me u. You can't.")
Geet hugged her daughter tighter to her and leaned against the wall.
"Shhh!! Bas ek minute pakadne do bete. Kuch nahi hoga." she whispered.
(Shhh!! Let me hold you just for a minute sweetie. Nothing will happen.)
"Mai chahti hoon ki tum Dev bhaiyya ke saath unke kamre mein raho, main tab tak Dadi se baat karke jaldi wapis aa jaungi."
("I want you to stay with Dev bhaiyya in his room. I will have a brief chat with Dadi and be back quickly.")
"Dev, please take Miri to your room and stay with her till I'm done."
"Par Geet Di," Dev passed a wary glance at his brother.
"Please Dev."
He reluctantly nodded and called out to Miri.
"Chalo, Miri."
(Let's go Miri.")
Miri peeked over her shoulder at the angry man, who was glaring at them. She tightend her arms around her mamma's neck and quickly shook her head in denial.
"Nahi! Main tumhe sher ke saath akele chod ke thode hi na jaa sakti hoon. Main yehi rahoongi tumhare saath."
("No! I am not going to leave you alone with that tiger. I'm staying right here with you.")
Geet struggled with her daughter's weight. She did not want to lose her balance in front of that man. It would be the ultimate humiliation and pride would not allow her to show any weakness before him.
("Bete woh sach mein ke sher thode hi nah hain. Brij mama ka matlab tha ki woh sher ke jaise gurrate hain. Jaise, 'Ek Tha Tiger' mein Salman Khan ko sab, 'Tiger' bulate the kyun ki woh kitne acche se dhishum dhishum karte the, waise hi Dev ke bade bhaiyya ko tumhare mama tiger bulate hain. Insan thode hi na janwar ban sakta hain.")
("Honey, how can he be a real tiger. What Brij mama meant was that he growls like a tiger. Just as Salman Khan was called 'Tiger' in 'Ek Tha Tiger', because of his fighting skills, likewise your mama calls Dev's elder brother a tiger. A human being can't turn into an animal.")
Miri shook her head at her mamma's ignorance.
"Offo mama, tum toh kuch bhi nahi jaanti ho. 'Brave' movie mein, Princess Merida ki mamma badi bhaloo, aur uske 3 bhai, chote, chote bhaloo ban jaate hain. Toh phir yeh tiger kyun nahi ban sakte." she nodded towards that man.
("Offo mama, you don't know anything at all. In the movie 'Brave', Princess Merida's mamma turns into a big bear and her 3 brother's into little bears. So why can't he turn into a tiger.")
Geet rolled her eyes at her daughter's logic, borrowed from illogical movies and whispered something in her ears.
Miri looked at her mamma with doubtful eyes, nodded her head and got down.
"Tum sach keh rahi ho na?"
("You are telling the truth right?")
Geet nodded.
Miri turned around, gave the tall man a wide berth and went and stood behind him.
"Nahi hain tail mamma, ek minute chipayi toh nahi?"
("There's no tail mamma. One moment, he hasn't hidden it right?")
Before Maan could understand what was happening, Miri quickly stepped closer to him, patted his butt, and raced into Dev's room, yelling at her mamma.
"Sacchi mein nahi hain mamma. You are safe."
("He really doesn't have one mamma. You are safe.")
"What the hell?" Maan jumped around shocked, but the little imp had run away and was already hiding inside Dev's room.
Dev grinned at Miri's actions and went behind her.
All the best, Geet di.
Aur bhai, I hope you will get your exercise in the gym today, and not by jumping to conclusions and flying of the handle and running down Geet di.
Maan glared at his brother, who was a font of information on every subject. How dare his kid brother take her side and give him, Maan Singh Khurana advice, on how to behave with that woman, who was laughing hysterically over her daughter's actions. Also, she had turned her back on him and was walking towards Dadi's room.
Savitiri Devi knew she was wrong. For the past five years she'd lived by either burying her head like an ostrich and hiding away from everything, or just by running away. Just a few moments ago, she had reverted back to her old self, forgotten all about her resolves and run way, abandoning Geet and Dev, to face Maan, on their own. She was not proud of her weak moment, but was resolved to correct it immediately, come what may. The TV in the background was now muted and just as she approached the doors of her room with a resolved mind, she heard Maan calling out to Geet and Geet laughing whole heartedly. She was not sure what had prompted Geet's laughter, but it only meant that she was not scared of Maan. Savitiri Devi smiled wickedly, as right then the devil inside her prompted her to hold back just for a few moments, until she could see how they interacted with each other. Though she couldn't see them, hearing them talk would surely give her an insight into their feelings.
Just then the TV channel started playing an old classic, by Kishore Kumar. Savitri Devi saluted the maestro, as she once again cranked up the volume.
"Waah Kishore Da, kya sahi dhun bajayi hain apne. Ab dekhti hoon mere bacche amne samne aake kya karte hain."
("Awesome, Kishore Daa, you've chosen a perfect tune to play. Now I'm going to see how my kids behave, face to face.")
&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&*&
"Miss Handa," Maan called out to her.
Her squeaky laughter was grating on his nerves and he walked ahead of her, with the intent of telling her to shut up. He turned around to do just that and his breath caught in his throat. She had her arms crossed over her stomach and head was thrown back, exposing the creamy expense of her long neck. He felt a crazy urge to suck on that creamy expense and mark it's pureness with his teeth. Her whole face was glowing and her eyes were squeezed shut as tears of mirth dripped down the corner of her eyes. He wanted to sip at those laughing tears. Her cheeks were flushed, he wanted to rub his rough bristled cheeks against them and feel their warmth and softness against his. Her lips were stretched wide and tiny pearly teeth were peeking from behind those lips. He wanted to run his tongue along those teeth, and taste the laughter on her lips. She just took his breath away. Lost in a trance, he instinctively took a step towards her, intent on putting his thoughts into action.
Geet had told Miri that if a person was an animal in disguise, the one thing they could not do was hide their tail. Miri had decided to believe her, though only after checking the truth of the statement for herself. Her child's actions and this man's shocked reaction had been too much for Geet to bear and she had burst out laughing. She had then started walking towards Dadi's room to confront her, when that man had called out to her. She looked up at him and the laughter abruptly died on her lips. There was no anger or hatred on his face. Instead of the grim tight jawed look, his lips were slightly parted and something hot and hungry blazed out of his eyes. He started walking towards her and Geet froze where she stood, feeling hot and cold all over. He was only a step away from her when music started blaring out of Dadi's room. They both jumped, startled out of their trance, when the words of the song fell on their ears and Geet blushed and Maan took a step back, confusion evident on his face.

Saamane Ye Kaun Aayaa, Dil Mein Huyee Halachal
Dekh Ke Bas Yek Hee Zalak, Ho Gaye Hum Paagal
Baate, Mulaakaate, Hum Se Bhee To Hogee
Hum Se, Khulenge, Wo Aaj Naheen To Kal
He looked at her, then and as the words played in the background, he slowly came back to his senses. That song was bull shit and he was going to prove it to her and to himself.
He turned around and banged on his Dadi's door.
"Dadi baand kijiye woh bakwas gana aur bahar nikliye"
("Dadi turn that stupid song off and come out.")
Dadi jumped back and smirked, as she heard him banging on the door and yelling. He grandson was yelling. Hmm, that meant that his emotions were really worked up. She promised herself that she was going to stay in here only until the song ended and then go and explain everything to her grandson.
She pressed her ear to the door, trying to hear their conversation through it.
Rahanaa Hain Yahaan To, Dono Hain Jawaan To
Bhalaa Door Kaise Rahenge
Maanaa Wo Haseen Hai, Par Hum Bhee Kam Naheen Hain
Wo Magarur Kaise Rahenge
The fact that this woman got to him, time and time again in spite of his best efforts, made him raging mad. Her outward beauty and innocent appearance hid a cunning and calculating personality. Why else would she be here. He did not believe in luck and coincidences and it was no coincidence that she was here, in his house. But he hadn't gotten to where he was by being a gullible fool and this woman was not going to pull the wool over his eyes.
He marched over to her, grabbed both her arms and shook her.
"Start talking, and tell me everything."
"Kya plan hain tumhara. Humari dhan daulat, humari shaurat, inki chamak ka tum hissa chahti ho na? Aur kaun kaun hai tumhare iss plan mein shamil."
("What is your plan, who else is involved in this plan of yours. You want to be a part of the glitter that comes from our wealth and our fame, don't you? Who else is involved in this plan of yours'")
"I am perfectly fine with you seeing me as a meal ticket or a money tree, but if you try taking advantage of my Dadi and Dev, just because they are rich, along with being gullible and vulnerable, I will personally see to it that you are destroyed completely.
"Jis aurat ko apni bacchi ko uthane mein dikkat hoti hain, jiski beti uski bahon mein rehna nahi chahti, kya charita hoga uss aurat ka, kaise soch, kaise vichar honge tumhare. Party ki raat agar mera shak galat tha toh aaj tumhe yaha dekhke woh galti, yakin mein badal chuki hain. Kyun ki main galat nahi tha. Galat toh tum aur tumhare irade hain. "
("The woman who has problems picking up her child, whose daughter doesn't want to remain in her arms, what kind of character will that woman have? What kind of thought process do you have? If my suspicions on the night of the party were a mistake, then seeing you here today has turned that mistake into a conviction, because I was not wrong. It is you and your intentions that are wrong.")
Aankhon Hee Aankhon Me, Baato Hee Baaton Mein
Kabhee Jaan Pahachaan Hogee
Sun Lo Ye Kahaanee, Haseenaa Yek Anajaanee
Kisee Din Meharabaan Hogee
He looked into her eyes and wondered how could they be soulful and innocent looking. She had alluring eyes that just drew a person into their depths and if eyes were windows to the soul then she should have had the purest and cleanest of souls. He did not believe in that crap anyway. He knew enough about her through her actions and her actions spoke louder than anything her eyes could say.
"Answer me damn it". He shook her once again.
"Tum iss insan ke samne nahi rogi Geet"
("You will not to cry in front of this man Geet.")
That was the only mantra Geet kept chanting to herself, as she looked up into his eyes blazing with hatred. Dev was right. This man had done exactly what his younger brother had warned him against; he'd worked himself up and exercised, by jumping to conclusions, Geet thought with dark humor.
She was blazing mad at this man. That was one of her weaknesses, whenever she got really mad, angry tears formed in her eyes. But she would not show any weakness to this man. She looked up at him stonily,
("Mere baba meri beti ko Kabir de Dohe sikahte hain. Aur unmese ek doha jaise bilkul aap ke liye bana hain.")
("My baba teaches Kabir's couplets to my daughter. And one of them suits you perfectly.")
Bura Jo Dekhan Main Chala, Bura Naa Milya Koye
Jo Mann Khoja Apnaa, To Mujhse Bura Naa Koye
Translation
I went in the search of the bad guy, the bad buy I couldn't find
When I searched my mind, there's no one as bad as me.
"Mujhe nahi pata main apki galat faimi kaise door karu. Aur aap ki galat faimi aap ki galti hain.
("I don't know how to clear your misunderstanding. And your misunderstanding is your mistake")
("Maine apki Dadi se suna tha ki unke bade pote ne Khurana khandan ki daulat aur shaurat mein char chand laga diye. Par apki soch dekh ke aise lagta hai, aap ke un chando ki chamak, unke daag aur unke greheno ke piche chip gayi hain. Aap ki yeh daulat aur shaurat apki kamzori ban chuke hain. Isiliye aap ke mann mein sankoch hain. Aapke jeevan mein shanti nahi hain. Aap kisi pe vishwas nahi kar pa rahe hain." Kyun kamaya itna paisa ki apni pehchaan un paiso ki chamak ke piche kahi kho di apne.")
("I had heard from your Dadi that her older grandson had added wealth and glory as bright as the light of 4 moons (can't translate this well in English, it's a hindi expression) to the Khurana family name. But looking at you it feels like the light of those moons is hidden behind the scars and eclipses of tose very same moons(hope you are getting the gist of what I'm trying to say) Your wealth and fame have become your weakness. That's why there's doubt in your mind,no peace in your life and you are unable to trust anybody. You have lost your identity behind the glitter of your wealth.")
Every word she uttered was hammering on his mind. She was getting to him with her words.
"Shut up, just shut up. I don't want to listen to this philosophical crap you are spouting." He yelled.
"Maan, stop it right now." Savitri Devi shouted from the open doorway of her room.
