A new addition to the family of reincarnations of Mother Teresa in Indian Telly Land. I thought Zoya was different from other leads and very realistic, but I'm starting to get really annoyed by her character now !! Zoya can put their life and an entire FAMILY's life at stake to "help" ONE person. She is doing this despite being warned. She's doing it despite knowing that if she speaks to Asad or someone else about it in an appropriate way and gets advice , then there might be another solution for the problem. Asad could have found the solution a few days ago if she had told him in a nice, polite manner.
Also, what is with Zoya's english accent??? Have the makers forgotten that a concept called " credibility" exists?? Zoya has to look relatable for American audiences too.. putting some jeans on her doesn't maker her American. The way she said " actually" in yesterdays episode seemed more like " EK-tually". I know that Surbhi has an M.A. and is educated, but please fix these things because they look awkward for a girl who acts like she was a natural born citizen of America.
P.S.- This is not to bash people with indian accents. My parents still have one, but there is NOTHING wrong with it. It's wrong when Zoya speaks with that accent because she claims to be oh-so-Americanized. Always telling Asad how old-fashioned he is. Wearing jeans does not make you any more fashionable, Zoya. I know that some people can live in the states for years and still have an indian accent, but her "actually" was just...way to off for me. I am sorry if I sound mean, but I hate the way her character is just being made to look dumb and unrealistic!!
Also change her clothes please. PLEASE !! People in the west wear more than just jeans and shirts with the same pattern but different colors. Also, most girls here do not tuck their shirts in when they are just at home. They wear more casual clothes. Her jeans also look really tight on her, I understand that she is portraying the role of a modern girl, but a little modesty wouldn't hurt. Being American doesn't mean that we wear ONLY western outfits. Surbhi looked dropped dead gorgeous in the red ethnic wear during the wedding..Can we see her wear more comfy clothes at home in which she looks more feminine??
Lastly, please allow her to focus on her main purpose of being in India. Afterall, she was the one who kept saying" I was better off in New York". It's nice that she wants to help others, but people who can't help themselves cannot help others.
I used to be a fan of Zoya until January 29th, 2013. Now. I've had enough. Phew!! Feel much better!!
LET the bashing begin from people who love Zoya. Disagree, but do not get personal with me.
Edited: I have no issues with Mother Teresa either, she was an inspiration in the true sense, but what I cant seem to understand is why the female lead in ALL 4Lions shows is used for Comic relief?? Why??

Tired of seeing her in the almost same dress everyday
Give her a new wardrobe
And nodoubt she looks best in western outfit bt same pattern? Same belt ? same style? Nooo give her something different . Is this suppose to b a uniform?
And then people say asad dont notice her

And to prove my point asad did notice when she had that duppatta with her jeans and top even it was to taunt her.

Nice post. Yes, they killed her character the moment she brought Mariyam inside the house and hid her in the store room. She had no right to do so since it is not her house. Plus, how can she put the lives of entire house in danger? That is too much for me to take.
Accent, I agree. I have been living in U.S for almost 15 years now. I don't say I have american accent, but I don't have the typical Indian accent either. She said 'Z' as zed on Asad's hand. That was a shock for me. Forget about the words, nobody says zed here. It is zee and that is something that comes naturally if you have lived here for few years. She claims to have done her studies in U.S, so that is something to think about.
Dresses - I won't go there because this production house obviously spends way too much money on the supporting actors/ actresses dress than the main leads. THe male lead gets 3 - 5 suits and one night dress or jogging dress or whatever you call it. That's about it. Female leads keep on wearing the same dresses where as the others hardly repeat their clothes. It happened in IPKKND and it is happening here too. Modern has everything to do with the way we think, not the way we dress. Yes, I wear jeans all the time here because it is practical, but when I go to visit India, I never even touch them. So, there is nothing wrong if she is shown in beautiful suits.

Great point about the "Zed" part - that was a major blooper on their part. Not a good move but ignored by me cause I liked the scene. And I agree; in India, none of my family wear jeans - it is too darn hot.

Hahaha. Zed. Maybe cv's got confused. Cos' Canadians say zed. 😆
And yeah. My mom actually pointed out Zoya's wardrobe. She was like look how nice she looks in her shalwar that she's wearing to sleep (yes, my mom even thought that Zoya looks nice in the shalwar she wears to sleep), why can't she dress like that more often.

And I kind of agree here. I have nothing agains her jeans. Cos she is supposed to be modern. But still. She looks so nice in Indian wear. It would be nice to see her in that kind if attire more often.

Ya I too thought the same except for the accent part (did not notice it ). Wanted to write it down but thought that there will be lot of bashing around so stopped it. But ya her clothes should be changed. She should be presented in a nice way rather than like this. her shirt always tucked it - not good and she is almost wearing the same clothes everyday. It seems like she has forgotten everything about her own mission. She has put the life of all the family members at stake inspite of being a guest there . That was the height. But then it is a fiction. Anything can happen. Hopefully her character takes a nice turn because she is a wonderful actress and seems to have a lot of potential like we all saw in Mahaepisodes. I wish her luck and it looks like the whole feelings of Mangalpur sequence have gone into drain.

Hey AshRun

The character assasination has started in earnest here. I second your thoughts since I relate to Zoya too. Past tense. I used to relate to her. I'm actually kinda agreeing more with Asad's pov regarding her now. Epic volte-face on my part right? 😕

The whole Marium hiding track is foolish to the point of absurdity. Not to mention another stereotype being perpetuated and solidified. The character of Zoya had so much potential, still has but I am not expecting much now. I agree about the wardrobe. I prefer western wear too, especially because it is mostly really cold in NZ. But at times I like wearing ethnic wear, and not just when I have to dress up and go somewhere religious. Zoya's USP for me was her relatability. I find her steadily lacking that in the past couple of episodes.

Now let me come to what irks me the most: her so-called "Mission", that she only seems to remember when Asad threatens to kick her out of the house. The rest of the time she is busy stirring trouble and mis-using her hosts hospitality. In this way her purpose of being in Bhopal in the first place has regressed to her last resort excuse whenever she feels she has come dangerously close to being packed off back to NY. You know there was a character trait of Zoya, that I used to think of as "lady in shining armor for every damsel in distress", which was cute in a way until she would end up doing some real damage. The upcoming shooting track suggests that she has. I wouldn't blame Asad going nuclear on her. And I want Zoya to learn from the experience. Now more than ever.

P.S. Remember I told you Imma gonna come back to you to vent. I kept my promise 😳

I thought she would say Zee and not Zed. I was surprised when she said Zed.

but what I cant seem to understand is why the female lead in ALL 4Lions shows is used for Comic relief?? Why??

i only agreed to this part .. this is a constant problem i am having with this PH since long .. now I cant shout about it anymore .. they only put comedy with the female leads and keep all the sensitivity with their male leads .. because they know all the female audiences will only go gaga over the hot male lead in every single serial they produced.. so in a way they are right ..

but some of us who watch the show with same love for the female lead feel low time to time seeing the comedy part only with female lead ..

I really did not notice the english part u mentioned .. may its a small mistake ..

And the character zoya is represented like this from the beginning so i guess its going with her character ..

Agree with your assessments.
1. Zoya's clothes are not very flattering to her.
2. Zoya is becoming more of a slapstick caricature than a real person. After the Mangalpur incident, she seemed to be toning down her dialogue and becoming "softer". Now it appears that we are back to square one.
