Chapter 9
Unnathi asked uday to join him for a coffee in the mall. Uday agreed. Unnathi was like a little sister to him. They went to the coffee shop and ordered 2 cappuccinos.
U: can I call you chotti if you don't mind?😊
Un: sure, you are like my dada to me.😛
U: tell me did they not find any whereabouts of your brother?
Un: no I don't even know if he is alive or not. But I always want him to come back. Even dad has lost hope of finding dada. Only manyata bhabhi still believes that one day uday will come back
U: is your bhabhi always this grumpy?😕
Un: no, she is very loving. She gets on well only with a few people and I am one of the lucky few.
"and iam one of those unlucky guys" thought uday" but what did I do?"😕
Un: hallo ? where did you go now? Any girlfriends?
U: no , I was just thinking about something. And I don't have any girlfriends till now
Un: what not even one?
U: no not even one. But if you add the lists of my crushes you will be tired
Un: ok I don't want to know about it.
Something went into unnathi's eyes and she closed her eyes due to irritation
Uday decided to blow out that irritating particle from her eyes and moves close to her do do so
She allows him to blow away that particle

Manyata was off to shop, shopping was her favorite pastime. She was free from her daily routine as today was Sunday. She drove her car to the mall. the mall as usual was crowded. She was window shopping when a sight in the coffee shop froze her movements
Uday and unnaathi were talking freely to each other
She was very far and could only make out their outlines
Unnathi was like her own sister and she did not have any high opinion about uday. He was educated, surely not so bad looking and had an ok personality but What if uday was a gold digger?
Manyata was confused of her feelings for uday. She still hated him 😡to the core. She loved her baby sister unnathi and was worried about her. She suddenly felt very insecure. I should not allow this relationship to go beyond friendship, she thought
And then she saw uday and unnathi talking animatedly. Unnathi is smiling at udays talks , was there a blush on her cheeks😳, a twinkle in her eyes?
As manyta watched them uday approached unnathi very slowly, his face moving close to hers, more close and then very close to her. His head blocked the view they remained in that position for about 3 minutes or so and then they separated, all she could see was unnathi smiling like a fool😳
What manyata saw was uday kissing unnathi (or that is what she saw from her angle) she boiled with rage
So does that mean their relation has crossed that friendship angle. No she should stop it now at this very instant
She just could not digest the fact that uday was close to unnathi😡
Her sister will never be an object for a gold digger like uday
She approached the coffee shop with great speed , only to see them leaving
Unnathi say manyata and ran towards her
Un: bhabhi you should have told me you were coming to shop then we could have gone together. It was so boring without you
M: but I see that you were not so bored in my absence( implying the coffee with uday)
Un: oh bhabhi you wont believe what happened today
Manyata cuts her in between
M: unnathi go and wait in the car we can talk from there. I want to tdiscuss something official with uday
Un: ok bhabhi, come soon
M: oh sure
Manveer watches unnathi leave and then manyata faces udat and tells him straight at his face
M: stay away from my sister or I will make sure you suffer😡
Saying this manyata walked away from there , her head held high . leaving behind a confused uday😕

Uday approached unnathi and carefully opened her eyelid and blew gently on her eye
The particle still had not gone and he did it again
Unnathi joked" it must be stubborn one like my bhabhi"
Uday blows once more and unnathi gets some relief
She smiles at him
Uday: your bhabhi is very stubborn and irritating too
Unnati: but she is also very loving too. I think we should leave now
Uday: yes its getting pretty late
They pay the bill and leave the coffee shop

Manyata left unnathi home in a hurry. She did not bother to hear her talks
Un: so bhabhi taday when I was at the mall………….
M: unnathi not now, I have to go to office, I will call you in the evening if iam free ok
Un: bhabhi, do you think of anything other than your office and work, I think this behavior is getting out of hand. You got to chill bhabhi. Atleast we need to spend some quality time together. Now adays we rarely see each other lest even talk to one another
M: unnathi you know iam busy nowadays. Try to understand my position too
Un: mya, you get enough time to go to discos and pubs but no time to spent with me
Then there was no conversation between the two sisters. Manyata concentrated on driving and unnathi looked outside. The silence was so sickening. Manyata left unnathi home and went straight to her office
Her mind was disturbed beyond imagination. Only one person could comfort her now. Only he could calm the storm raging inside her. The person for whom she was waiting for 17 years – her udayveer , her best friend
Only his memories could bring her back to normal, give her some mental peace
She went to her cabin and opened her locker. She had a locker to keep some of her private stuff, stuff which she wanted to protect from others
The locker had some photo albums, some business file and a velvet box . she took out the velvet box and went and sat on the sofa. She opened the box with great care as if it was something very fragile and delicate. In that box was a chain made of platinum with a heart shaped locket. It was uday's gift for her on her 4 th birthday. It was his selection though his dad had brought it. giri uncle would always say that whenever she wore it . she rarely wore it nowadays. It was not to be shared with others it was meant only for her, only for her eyes to see. It gave her a strong feeling of being under somebody's care and love, a strange feeling of protection
The box also had some other items too. It had a totally dried partially powdered rose flower in it. it was given to her by uday the day before he went missing at haridwar. he had plucked it from the garden outside their resort and given it to her

U:manu, this rose is for you
M: I no want roze
U: I took it for you without shersingh watching
Shersingh was their body guard who was very strict. He never allowed to move out of his sight and the kids hated him. Defying him was indeed a brave act
M:really, you so brave
U: I am going to be a king. Kings must not be frightened said dad
M: really?
U: yes
M: and will you make me your queen when you are king
U: you are not tall enough to be my queen
M: I will wear mama's heels then I will be very tall
U: stupid, you are alredy my queen. You are my best friend manu
Manyat sees his hand there are some starches on it
M: what are these?
U: nothing
M: tell me na
U: while plucking the rose, the rose plant hurt me
M: oh it must be paining lets go hurt the rose flower back
Flashback over
Manyata 's eyes was filled with tears. The rose, the chain and many other small things udayveer presented her when he with her
She had searched every nook and corner of India in search of uday once she gained power, but till now it was in vain. Her mind refused to believe that uday died. In front of others she was one brave girl who enjoyed her life to the fullest , but only she knew the insecure soul inside her.
She then went through some photo albums of her and uday. There were photos of uday and manyata's birthday. A photo of manyata crying as uday went to school, photo of both in school dress and so on There was a photo of uday without his shirt crying, there was a big stitch on his back, it was given to him by manyata. Manyta had pushed him while playing from the balcony and he fell on the steel fence. One of the steel rods pierced in and left a deep cut. Doctor said he was lucky to be alive. Udayveer had that mark on his back since then. Manyata did cry a lot that night thinking about how she hurt her best friend. Uday consoled her the next day when she went to visit him at the hospital saying it was not her fault and he had slipped and fell. She continued to cry. Uday warned her that she would not be his queen if she did not stop crying and only then did she stop crying
Udayveer come back I miss you, I want to meet you now. This very instant. Wherever you are I want to see you , if you are still alive then come to me this instant said manyata
"mam" said a voice
