I bet there are many men that suffered in the film or fashion industry and had issues such as depression or a career fall downs. Examples include Vivek Oberei.
Men have feeling to and they should also be subjected through movies. They should do male versions of heroine and fashion

What do you think? Have we got to few male centric movies?

most films are hero films girls are just eye candy.

But a movie about Vivek Oberoi would be cool. Ranbir could play him. Who would play Salman and who could play Aish

vivek should himself act in it...atleast it will get him some limelight.

considering the promos of his upcoming films, i feel sorry for him. that nobody really cares abt him and there was a time where he was on everyone's lips.

ek press conference...saala ek press conference...macchar ko bhi maat de sakta hai career tabha karne mein 😆

Partriarchal culture to blame, what else? They will never show flaws, problems of a male. Male is supposed to be heroic in every sense. Only females become successful by sleeping around and become depressed in so called realistic films.

Umpteen incidents such as those of Vinod Khanna getting disillusioned and turning to spirituality. Or Guru Dutt and Sanjeev Kumar's tragic end (one committed suicide, other drank himself to death). But no. Filmmakers do not have the balls to show failures or 'reality' of a male.

Male actors are also forever busy trying to project themselves as messiahs. Gone are the days when an Aamir Khan could play a struggling musician/singer in AHAT or Jacke Shroff a failed superstar, wallowing in depression in Kaash. Now they all are suffering from the same brand of male chauvinism that Sunny used to have - who'd have list of things like Deols don't die, Deols don't chase girls, Deols don't get beaten by villain blah blah blah while doing a film.

I think audience is also growing regressive (they may think they are modern but they are NOT). They want their male actors in typical winner/heroic type avatars. They instantly dismissed SRK as a wimp in RNBDJ and laughed at Aamir in Talaash (my cousins joked how he didn't beat anyone despite being a policeman, no consideration of the depressed state his character is supposed to be in). They can't even tolerate hero as dysthymic or simpleton. How will they patronise a film on depressions, compromises and frustrations of male stars?

All actors, filmmakers and audience are just bunch of hypocrites.

Films like Fashion, TDP, Heroine are all about voyeurism and they also send a subconscious message that a successful female is actually a fallen, disgraced woman, whose reached even her "powerful" status by being plaything for many men and her end is always tragic only no matter how successful she is. It feeds partriarchal notions and stereotypes on women in non-traditional mould to the hilt!

I find it funny how such films are rewarded amply by acclaim and awards. And even hailed as powerful statement/performance! Crap!
